Announcing Awards: You Too Can Be a Winner!

Day 1,513, 12:55 Published in Belgium USA by MaryamQ

Hello eBelgium and friends!

Has anybody noticed how quiet it is around here? The last article published in eBelgium in a private newspaper was 5 days ago, and it was actually related to a government office (and subsequently republished in the official newspaper). Now, I know you are all busy playing games on the forum, but I think we can do better than that! We have a lot of good writers with interesting things to say out there, and I want to read them!

Announcing the MaryamQ Press Awards

In the interest of stimulating some of that good writing, I have decided to offer a few incentives in the form of prizes. Here is the deal:

Each article considered for a prize must have a minimum of 100 words, with the exception of cartoons, which must have a minimum of 4 panels.

Each article must be written by a citizen or honorary citizen of eBelgium in one of the official languages of eBelgium and published in a private (not government or party) newspaper.

Simple rules, huh? Now here are the categories and prizes:

For the most qualifying articles in a single newspaper between now and midnight on day 1525: 100 BEF per article

For the article receiving the most votes: 10 BEF per vote

For the article judged by me to be the most creative: 200 BEF

For the article judged by me to be the most helpful for other players: 200 BEF

For the article judged best overall by a panel of my choosing which will not include any of the competing publishers: 500 BEF

Do you think you can do it? Start writing!

And now for something completely different:

Following the recent war with France, I planned to give recognitions to those who did just a bit extra for the cause of eBelgium. Battle heroes, campaign heroes, and resistance heroes have received their medals and the BH and CH winners were recognized by Critically in the MoD newspaper. However, there are a few heroes that I think deserve extra recognition.

Solvay awards

The following people donated to supply fighters out of their own resources
and declined to take unused supplies back at the end of the war. Thanks to them, we had supplies when we needed them and have more in reserve to be used as need. Although there is nothing material that I can offer as a meaningful award to them, I want to offer them the thanks of a grateful eBelgium.

Special Recognition

In addition, I want to give special recognition to somebody who reached a new achievement against the odds and had fun doing it. A Vegan won his first two Battle Hero medals at the rank of colonel**, which is very impressive when you know that almost everyone else who won one outranked him by several levels. To him, I give the Mouse That Roared Award. He will find a token gift from me in game, but more than that, he has my greatest respect for what he was able to do!

Now everybody get writing and show me what you can do!
