Anglo-Irish Relations & the Current Government

Day 1,947, 08:08 Published in Ireland Ireland by Brian Boru

GOVERNMENT BLUNDERS
It seems the administration of MUFC is incapable of running the country with any sort of foresight or diplomatic competency. A series of blunders or oversights by the government have resulted in the current crisis.

Blunder No.1:
Holding a national referendum on alliance membership, which included an alliance hostile to the interests of TWO, while engaging in a training war with the United Kingdom and while Spain bordered the country.

This is essentially what provided the fuel for this fire; provoking our powerful neighbours into hostile intent, with no guarantee of enough aid to repulse hostile action, in the middle of a treasury crisis, in the middle of a depressed economic module.

Of course, Ireland has every right to decide to join CUA or whatever, but the problem is timing and diplomacy, the government failed at both.

The only conclusions that can be drawn are that either the government is incompetent, or that MUFC wishes to provoke an apocalyptic war to solidify support behind him.

Stupidity through arrogance OR Unity through annihilation.

Blunder No.2
Allowing the actions of the kunts to dictate government policy, and losing control of the country's legislature, despite precedents for cooperation and management of such problems being well-established.

The people who matter in Britain, they know who Padraig Pearse is. They know what he is fond of doing. People in Ireland know what he's about as well.

Yet we have a government, one that claims to be about unity and strength, showing weakness and disunity in being incapable of passing an essential piece of legislation. A piece of legislation that was necessary for the survival of the country as well as continued good relations with our neighbours.

And when the President makes statements like the one above, who can blame them for rebelling a little.

Blunder No.3
Telling the British that the government cannot control the trolls in our Congress.

A quote from the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom says it all.
"However, there is more than meets the eye here. When myself and my Minister of Foreign Affairs spoke with Ireland about how to resolve this, their attitude was one of “we cannot deal with the trolls in our congress, you guys do whatever to deal with it”. So if the law does not pass, we will have a decision to make. We either hope that Ireland can bring their own congress under control - which looks unlikely, seeing as their President has apparently given up - or we take it upon themselves to end their NE by wiping them. If Ireland cannot control their congress, we might have to do it for them."

Not only do the British believe that our government cannot bring pressure to bear on the Dáil, but they believe that our government barely gives a shit. And all the evidence seems to agree.

The government has granted all that is necessary to wipe Ireland more or less permanently; continued displays of weakness, incompetency and disunity, pissing off major powers, motivation to wipe us via arrogant and/or apathetic responses to genuine political concerns, and simple execution via an existing war in which one of the powers involved is already present on Irish soil.

THE BLAME GAME AND WHAT WE MUST DO
Regardless of how the crisis came about, we have two tasks ahead of us. The first is to shitcan this idea that the kunts are these powerful manipulators, and look to who is actually in charge of the country.

The second is to get on with the fighting.

Another war between the UK and Ireland has long been coming; interest in Ireland aligning with the UK militarily has been relatively isolated, particularly on this side of the Irish Sea, and that was the only thing that could have stopped the war.

The government has decided to bring it upon us when we are nowhere near ready, with our allies otherwise engaged. Regardless, our dignity is now at stake on both the military and political fronts.

The former is threatened by the British, and the latter is threatened by the biggest set of friends to foreign imperialist ambition to ever rule the country. Some may say we require unity to defeat the British, but the truth is, we need to clean house first.
