An Orange Speaker?

I know, it's weird, right?

Well, apparently several people think it would be a GREAT IDEA for me to be the Speaker of the Diet (congress) for this congressional term. That's all fine and dandy, but I'd like to hear from more of the general populace of eJapan before everything is settled.

WHAT'S THAT? YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT OUR FORUMS???

Fear not, for I have generously acquired (by less than scrupulous means) a quick tutorial on how to use the forums that we all love so much.

In order to post in the forums, as well as see the private citizens-only forums, you will need to register a user account. This can be done at the link just above, or by clicking the "Register" link at the top of the forum webpage. You will be shown the standard Terms of Service agreeing not to post any objectionable or illegal material. Click on "I agree" to confirm. Next you will see the registration screen. You are prompted to select a username, which will be your forum login. Most citizens use their eRep citizen name, although there is some variety. You are also asked to supply and confirm an email and password, select a timezone, and provide the link to your eRep profile.

Once you go through the automatic, you can post in the public forums such as "Open General, but to see and post in many forums, you will still have to be verified as a citizen. In most cases, this will happen quickly as a matter of course. If there are security concerns for whatever reason, it may be delayed; however, this is rare.

Those who are already citizens should post in the Welcoming Hall signup thread. The first post shows the format for signups. Click "post reply" and post your information. Those who are applying to immigrate should post under Immigration. Post your name, a link to your citizen profile, and your reason for coming to eJapan.

Once your citizenship is verified or your application approved, you will be able to join the political discussion in Congress -- open to all citizens. More general chat about eRep takes place in General Discussion, and there is an Off-Topic[/ur] forum where the sky's the limit.

So there you have it. If you are not yet on the forums, I STRONGLY urge you to sign up and become a part of our community.

To add, IRC is probably one of, if not the, easiest ways to interact with the Japanese community.

If you don't already have an IRC client, simply go to http://www.mibbit.com/ From there click 'Launch Mibbit Webchat'. Type in a username for yourself in the nick box and type #ejapan for the channel box. In the IRC box scroll down and select Rizon[webIRC].

Then just click Go and you now can talk with other Japanese members on IRC. There's usually around 20-30 people in the channel and there's generally active people who would love to talk with you.
