An Introduction

Day 777, 01:10 Published in Ireland Ireland by Michael Hook

For those of you (....And by that I mean most of you) who don’t know me, I’m Michael Hook and I joined eIreland six days ago on day 700 of the new world. I decided to join eIreland rather then my home country, The United States of America for several reasons. First of all, although I am a United States citizen I have a lot of Irish in my blood. Also, I would rather join a nation where my voice will be heard and my opinion will count then a huge nation which has already grown to its potential.

As a new citizen, I asked my mentor Biffo3000 dozens of questions, most of these on aspects of the game that I could not utilize yet. One of the questions was about newspapers, more specifically what to write in them. After getting many suggestions from him such as commenting on world events, or commenting on eIreland’s political scene, he suggested writing a journal of the struggles of a new citizen. This suggestion hit me hard as I had, and still have many struggles. Not only do I struggle with the complex aspects of the game aka…all of them, but most with the inability to do much within the first parts of the game. Therefore I will start off my newspaper by writing a series of articles on my struggles through the first few weeks of eRepublik.

Considering we are in election time, I figured this article would not be worth anything without a proper endorsement. On that note, I voted for Edana Savage. Not only has she shown she is willing to put the time and effort into the job shown by her past positions in the government, or so I’ve heard, but also her ideas are unique and interesting. As a new citizen I was directed to her to find a mentor to guide me through these first parts of the game. Not only did she give me a great mentor that really fit with my interests, but she continued to answer the countless questions I had for her. This showed me how she is willing to go above and beyond what is required of her. Also, I recently had a chat with her about writing novels where she gave me a few pointers on how to get started. This is the type of president eIreland needs. Someone who will stop just observing as their nation grows, but someone who will get down and get to know their citizens on a personal level.

Thank you for reading, look out for more articles of mine in the near future!
