An Interview with Haliman!

Day 1,381, 16:45 Published in USA USA by Israel Stevens

I recently took the time to interview some one that I have become friends with over the past 4 months. He is a 9 time Party President, 8 time Congressman, former President, and long time member of the National Guard. Love him or hate him, it’s Haliman.

You were the Party President of two bitter political rivals, the USWP and the AMP, which party was more rewarding?
With the USWP, we were already #1. With the AMP, we had to work our butts off to get there. So I'm more proud with my work in the AMP, by far.

What does the number 1 spot mean to you?
I've wanted it badly, for a long time. We've come very close, but haven't done it yet. The #1 spot to me means that the elites will lose power. All I've wanted from the start of the party is for people to get their first steps into the political world. Sometimes, these people are sniped out for no reason. Sometimes, it's a stupid reason. Anyways, I want to stop that from happening, and give everyone their shot at congress.

Do you think the AMP will catch the USWP?
The question isn't if, it is when. 😉

Some would argue that having political rivalries that are as entrenched as the USWP vs AMP rivalry, is bad for the country, and leads to more disagreement overall. Your take on the matter?
For so many months, it was USWP gets a plurality, and every other party fights for other seats. Now? We actually have heavily contested elections. We beat the USWP two months ago. They beat us last month. We tied this month. Isn't that what we need? Contested elections, instead of the norm?

Are you going to run for President again?
October 2011: Haliman vs Pfeiffer. Be there.

You were the President that allowed iNCi into the country. A move that was fiercely contested on both sides. It's been 9 months. How would you view that decision now?
Well, first of all, I didn't let anyone in the country. Inwegen, Josh Frost, and Colin Lantrip had been talking about letting them in for a while. They started to funnel in en masse during my term. I didn't have the option of "No, tell them to go away." And even if I did, I wouldn't have. There was a lot of fighting at the beginning, but things cooled down.
Hell, inci tanked hard for us during the invasion. They fought extremely hard trying to defend the country, and I respect them a lot for that. There are a lot of inci trolls, but there are just as many (even more) awesome people there.

You served in the National Guard for a longtime, what was it like?
My favorite moments in this game come from my time in the NG. It's why I stayed there for so long. I made some of my best friends there. It's a very casual, laid back branch, and I think everyone should experience it at some point. 🙂

Did you enjoy being an officer in the National Guard?
I served as a Lt. Colonel for a long time, [and] the soldiers in the NG are some of the most fun in the nation. 😛

You resigned from the National Guard, correct?
Yessir. I requested a discharge a few days ago.

Did the rift between the JCS and the rest of the country have any bearing on that decision?
It did not. I stayed there for over a year, and it was just time for us to part ways

You are in a unique situation, in that you were a longtime Mil Member (Senior Officer), and also President. You have seen this rift from both sides. Do you think that it will end, and if so, how?
I honestly do not know. I have talked with other politicos (even from the USWP 😮) and we all agree the ideal scenario would be merging the militaries. That should be our goal.

In your mind, would the JCS forces retain their autonomy if a merger were to happen? That is to say, would branches remain whole, or get folded into an existing USAF branch.
That's what I would want. Branches to remain independent. The officers would retain their ranks, if they so choose.

What else is left for you to achieve in eRepublik?
Society builder, and mercenary medal. Then, there will be nothing new I can do in this game.
By game mechanics*

And by non-game mechanics? What do you want to achieve personally?
Honestly? Nothing much.

This month has one of the best President races we’ve seen in a while, with three, strong, popular candidates. Care to announce whom you are supporting, and why?
Gnilraps. He's a level headed good guy. He's active, and will do a good job. A^2 is letting pfeiffer near the whitehouse, which is always a mistake. I have nothing negative to say about Paul. He's a bro too. 😛

Boobs or butt?

I’d like to thank Haliman for taking the time out to sit down and answer a few questions. I hope you enjoyed reading, and gained some insight into one of America’s most prominent citizens.
