An Insight – Switzerland

Day 1,727, 09:39 Published in Australia Switzerland by Dan/naD Wilshire
The Introduction

This month Gucio16 beat Uros95 47 to 26. Switzerland’s position in the eWorld makes it a point of conflict as Switzerland offers and easy route across central Europe which the major alliances capitalise on. It is also abused for its resources by larger nations and has faced many months where you haven’t been able to find them on the map.

The Deal with Macedonia

http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-cp-treaty-with-macedonia-2099124/1/20

Switzerland had been off the map for near a month, occupied by Croatia. A joint effort between Macedonia, Poland, Serbia, Austria and Switzerland meant that we finally got some of our regions back.

This new deal with Macedonia will secure Switzerland two resource bonuses of Cattle and Fruits, while giving us 3 regions. Two of the regions are bordered only by our allies so that means they have secured congress for this month.

Not everyone has supported this deal due to the fact only the MPP’s lost have been covered and the government is not receiving anything else in return for the region that Macedonia will now have (meaning Switzerland doesn’t have a 20% weapons bonus).

In the article above you will be able to watch and follow the events as they unfold, and you will be able to see if they manage to stick to the plan or not.

Gucio16’s Aims for this month

- Regain control of at least 2 regions, if not 4.
- Continue with renewing/signing MPPs with ONE/ProONE/CoT countries
- Try to get reliable congress members elected for the next elections
- Make a program which would help us deal with eliminating PTO threats
- Try to make a baby-boom and get more new citizens into Switzerland
- Carry on with weapon supplying for Military Units
- Make food/weapon giveaways for Swiss citizens
- Make a new Military Unit program to support the members of all military units, not just the National Army.
- Constantly update Swiss citizens on the situation of Switzerland internally and externally

Interview with the Swiss CP Gucio16

Me: How does it feel to be CP?

Gucio: Firstly it felt quite happy and nice, but then after the first few days I actually realised that it's not that easy being a CP and there are lot of hard decisions which need to be made.

Me: How long have you been involved with the Swiss Government?

Gucio: I've been involved with the Swiss government since March this year. I've started as Vice Minister of Defense and risen up to MoD and then vCP of Switzerland.

Me: During your time in the government, which month was the hardest in your eyes for Switzerland?

Gucio: Overall I think making decision about the recent treaty with Macedonia was the hardest.

Me: Even though you faced some opposition against the treaty with Macedonia, why did you go ahead with it?

Gucio: Overall the whole cabinet has considered the advantages and disadvantages of the deal considering the short term and long term affects it could have on Switzerland. Most members have voted for the treaty. In my opinion that was the best option we had for the short term.

Me: What do you think of eAustralia?

Gucio: eAustralia is now cooler since you are there Dan

Interview with Swiss MoF Lotus Black

Me: So Lotus how many times have you been in the Swiss Cabinet?

Lotus: This is my third time.

Me: What is it like to be a Cabinet member in Switzerland?

Lotus: I have noticed, that Switzerland has a more connected cabinet than some of the other countries have. There is a lot of communication among members (in IGMs and on the chat). The members are also very respectful to one another, so overall it’s a good job to have

Me: You were one of the objectors to the Swiss deal with Macedonia, why was that?

Lotus: The main reason was, because I saw the deal as a threat not a business proposal (meaning if we do not agree with it, they would have no intentions in giving us back the other two regions and we would be at risk at losing all of them - although they never stated that officially). The idea that an allied nation, who was there to help us against Croatia and then demanding one of our regions without paying rent for it, I considered as bullying and violation of our trust. Even though they offered us protection from the other nations and a guaranteed congress, I felt Switzerland needed to take a stand and show everyone that we have enough of this and we will no longer be the victim of stronger nations plans.

Me: What do you think of eAustralia?

Lotus: I haven't had the chance to spend my time with a lot of Australians so I wouldn't know what the people are like. But to be a bit diplomatic 🙂, I see Australia as a brave nation that stands for their beliefs
