An Imperial Sunrise

Day 700, 09:41 Published in Japan Japan by Reiji Mitsurugi

ずいぶんになりますね

It's been too long, friends. Soldiers, colleagues, people of Japan, we here at the Taishou (that is, me, Reiji Mitsurugi) have been very busy lately with all sorts of goings-on. New duties in Switzerland, old duties in China, older duties in the capital have all come together to mean I haven't had much time for my personal joy. But, of course, nothing can keep a man from his true love for long. And that love is the love of quiet, personal reflection. A love of good, well-thought writing. A love of wisdom, that is φιλοσοφία, philosophy. In our noble language, we say 哲學, the study of wisdom, as it came from Chinese.

As the October elections approach, I have been thinking a lot about my party, the Imperial Sun Party. What does it mean? What do we stand for? How are we different from the other groups in Japan? What is, ultimately, our party philosophy? Well, you can see such things as written by our great Party Leader, KITA Ikki at the party homepage. But newfangled Internet gadgetry aside, what is the soul of the Party?

Much has been written of our illustrious leader.

So often in Japanese politics we hear of the Righteous Nation Philosophy, that grand and glorious ideology that I put into words so very long ago. Occasionally, it is attributed to me. It has been said that this is “Reiji Mitsurugi's philosophy.” While I certainly hold it as a personal philosophy by which I guide my life and politics, I by no means can claim ownership of it. It is true that I am the principal author of the document, that I wrote the words which form its body, but the ideas themselves are not mine alone. The Righteous Nation Philosophy is the soul of Japan. I wrote it so many months ago based on what I saw in the people and leaders of our country. It is no more mine than it is each and every Japanese person's work.

So what, then, is the soul of the Imperial Sun Party? We have a dusty old manifesto that was written well before even my time by the founder of our Party, who has since left for other ventures. But that is radically outdated and not even truly complete. The soul of the Imperial Sun Party is fortitude. Unwavering dedication to our loftiest of goals.

The history of the Imperial Sun Party is unbroken. It is linear. It is a straight line from start to the present. Since our visionary founder Tohru threw up the first Kyokujitsuki, the Imperial Sun Party has fought for Strength and Guardianship, Preservation of Culture and Transparency.

I have heard criticism that our lofty goals have not been met. That politicians promise things upon which they cannot deliver. That is defeatism. That sort of talk is destructive and dangerous. The Party's work is never done, this is a reality. We will continue to fight for our ideals until the last breath has left the last of our bodies, but to ignore the victories we have won so far is criminal. The Imperial Sun Party has seen the growth of the military, with the rise of the Imperial Army and Imperial Navy both. The Imperial Sun Party has seen the expansion of our national culture, with the ascension of His Imperial Majesty Kokawayoshi Makoto and the ratification of the constitution that provided for such.

New parties will rise, old parties will fall, but the Imperial Sun stands as a bulwark of stability. We are the bastion of traditionalism, of militarism, of glorious nationalism in Japan. And we will continue to fight the good fight, until the last of us dies holding the Kyokujitsuki.

So when October 25 arrives, and it comes time for the Japanese people to make their decision, I implore them, as I always do, to remember those who have their safety, their security, their well-beaing at heart. I implore them to remember the soul of our Party, and the soul of Japan.
