Joseph Straatmann was born on April 28, 2009(Day 525 of the New World).

Little that he know he was destined for a greater role in eMalaysia.

He was born in Missouri of the eUS and moved to eMalaysia,he was then reborn into this eWorld as Dr. Straatman

I had a chance of interviewing this important figure who has shaped eMalaysia during its early years..

Mior:

What was your main target in erepublik,when u were born in this eworld,did u accomplish your target? and what would you advice be for the newbies in eMalaysia?



Dr:

I didn't have a main target when I first started eRepublik. My goal was to learn as much about the game as I could and try my hand at everything to decide what I wanted to do most. I accomplished that and decided that there really wasn't any one single thing I wanted to do. I've always been willing to focus on whatever was most needed of me at the time.

My advice for newbies is to do whatever they want when they first start out. Don't let someone tell you what you can and cannot do, just go for it. When you find something you enjoy, stick with it, don't let a bad experience or two make you leave it behind forever. But most importantly, talk to people. The only real fun in this game comes from the relationships you make with other players.

Quoted from ur profile "My life is ruled by a certain philosophy. I alone control my life, no one else has the ability or right to control it. While I may be swayed by the opinions of others, they should never control my actions, for in the end I alone must answer for them" could you share with us a few of those philosophy that ruled your elife ??



Dr:

Free will is really my only philosophy. Everything I do comes back around to it for the most part. In the end this is a game, you can do whatever you want without worrying about something happening to you in RL. If you feel that a certain path is the right one but no one else wants to agree with you, keep at it. Don't just give in, keep trying to bring over others to your cause. Eventually you'll find at least one other player that agrees with you 😛

Can you explain as to why u choose a cat as your profile avatar 😛 ?


Dr:

The cat actually started after I moved to eMY. Once I started writing articles actively I began using pictures as headers, more often than not they included a cat. So through a combination of comments and IRC chats I finally decided I wanted to take on the persona of a cat, like so many other eRepublikans.



Mior :

What is your recent accomplishment and your future plans??Does it include eMalaysia??



Dr:

I don't really have any recent accomplishments, I've been two-clicking for a couple of months now. My future plans though do include eMY. Eventually I hope to return to activity and once I do I'll want to help some nation however I can. More than likely that nation will be eMY.



Mior:

In your opinion, what is the greatest accomplishment that u have achieved so far in erepubik ?? Particularly in eMalaysia??



Dr:

I honestly don't believe any one action of mine was all that great of an accomplishment. They usually ended up ending badly. Some might disagree with me, but I think my only real accomplishment was moving to eMY. I made a much larger impact here than I could in the eUS. I hope that I made living in eMY just a little bit better for at least one player 😉



Mior:

As one of the great figures in eMalaysia, do you miss eMalaysia??Is there any way for us to get u back and help us in our effort to build eMalaysia?? Why did u left eMalaysia for ePhilippines in the first place??



Dr:

I miss eMalaysia quite a bit, just not the conflict within it. It wouldn't be too hard to convince me to return from ePH because I already plan to eventually. However, I won't be returning until I have more time to be active. I left eMalaysia to get away, I chose ePH because it was nearby and already had ties to eMY. Not to mention I already knew quite a few people here. When I first moved, I thought I was truly immigrating forever, but over the months I've realized that ePH is just a vacation for me. My real home here is eMY and I will return someday.
