An eRepublik-Wide Effort: Interlude. PEACE is dead. Long Live PEACE.

Day 731, 20:09 Published in United Kingdom Austria by Albert Neurath

The eWorld has been shocked over the last week and a half by the sudden, rapid disintegration of the PEACE GC. This alliance, for a long time the dominant power on the face of the globe, seems to have become moribund as its primary leading countries pull out. Starting with Indonesia, then spreading like a virus across the other PEACE countries, secession mania swept the alliance. In a historic move, the alliance voted to dissolve itself.

Before the assembled nations of EDEN go off and start drinking themselves into a stupor over their victory, however, I must preach caution. Although the original alliance has dissolved itself, most of the major nations of PEACE still are on good terms with one another. I predict that the countries formerly part of PEACE, even though they are officially disunited, will continue to play a major role in the geopolitics of the eWorld. Like the nations of ATLANTIS did some months ago, I believe there will be several smaller alliances springing up to take over the old mantle of PEACE.

Now, I shall give my predictions as to which alliances shall be formed from the breakup:

1. The AHA will officially become its own independent alliance, much like Sol is already. Because the AHA's member nations are all Hispanosphere or Lusosphere nations, they already have much in common culturally and linguistically. The AHA will, I predict, be expanded to include Portugal, as the other major Lusophone country besides Brazil. Because the AHA nations generally are small in population, except Brazil and Argentina, I predict that they will seek to form a common ground with other old nations of PEACE, while still preserving their independence.

2. France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK will form their own power bloc. As former PEACE members with medium to large populations, these nations are too large to invade without a major concentrated effort by EDEN forces, while still not strong enough to mount major offensives on their own. This power bloc will, if formed, probably pursue a policy of neutrality in foreign affairs, again due to the medium-sized populations of these nations.

3. Hungary, Russia, Turkey, Iran, and Serbia create their own power bloc as well. As these nations are some of the most devoted countries to PEACE, they are the most likely to continue to try and complete PEACE's goals, whatever they may have been. This group of nations, with their large populations, will pose a significant military threat to EDEN nations should conflicts resume.

4. The smaller PEACE states (except Bulgaria and Pakistan, for reasons I shall discuss), will not join any of the established alliances, or will join one of the smaller newly emerging alliances. Bulgaria and Pakistan will join with the "Large Power Bloc" led by Hungary because of historical support reasons (Dioists in Pakistan, and Bulgaria's close proximity to a perennially hostile Greece and Turkey)

5. Indonesia shall remain officially neutral. Because of Indonesia's attack on Malaysian territory, they have earned the ire of both several of their former PEACE allies and the Sol alliance, and will probably have a hard time rejoining any of the newly emerging power blocs.
