An Election Presentation

Day 1,218, 17:40 Published in Belgium Belgium by Aldous Zamiatin

Today I'm announcing that I have put my candidacy for the Congress elections on the 25th of March, running in Brussels for the newly formed United Left Alliance. I strongly support this young political movement, which reminds me again about what it's all about - solidarity, constructive dialogue and team work. These values were of utmost importance when I started my political career more than a year ago facing foreign interference in eBelgium, but they are just as important and vital today, when personal ambition sometimes seems to make some of us forget the greater good of the community.

If elected in Congress, I hope to be a moderating element when discussions can get a bit heated, defend our "left" ideals, but staying realistic and keeping my eyes open for the needs of our citizens and our nation as a whole. Being a Congress member means being the representative of the people, and I want to be an accessible point of contact for every citizen. Trying to involve as many young people in the public life of our country and helping them realise their potential should also be the duty of every active citizen, as this youth is the future of our nation. So instead of noticing the low activity of younger citizens, we shouldn't just think that they are a problem and should be neglected, but we have to acknowledge that the problem lays with us who didn't succeed in creating a nurturing environment.

I hope this short presentation gave you some insight in who I am and what I stand for, and I hope you'll consider my candidacy on the 25th of March.
