An article that shouldn't be written...
Cooke4444
The last few days (mostly on forum) set me to think about eBelgium, and maybe more importantly, the social relations within eBelgium.
I see in almost every congressional debate, a debate about the person who proposed something, not on the proposal itself. This happens at the moment multiple times. It even makes me reading the debates as a moderator, not as a congressman. This is why I'm considering to keep out of congress and/or governement next term, so I don't feel forced to read every debate, as I want to do my "job" properly. As I see it at this moment, the only reason why I should go for congress is for the 5G. This is the wrong motivation and it makes me sad even to consider this. This is nothing final, but I'm just saying this isn't the way I would like to continue.
People don't seem to understand the use of a PM. At very different debates, I see things that easily could have been solved in a conversation in PM or a private chat on IRC. Instead of first asking why a person has a statement or why (s)he voted a certain way to the person him(her)self, topics get started on forum, just to bash other people for their beliefs.
Another thing I see is the lack of criticism. Yes, there is opposition on proposals, but what is this opposition? It consists out of insults, false accusations and random rants. Criticism has to be positive. I mean with that, that it should help the person to "let him/her grow", not to "shoot" him/her down. People DO make mistakes sometimes. I see now people who only see the bad things in each other. Some people seem to have a hard time with being balanced in their actions. I hope these people see that they are in a vicious circle. By challenging another person, it doesn't make your own image go up. The insults etc. only gets worse. Some people then see no way out of this, apart from abusing powers (congressional, governemental, mod, admin, SC and even citizen powers, like starting topics). This is just a round-up of "powers", not that there is abuse in every way.
Yet another thing is the "word of the moment" elitist. I don't want to go point fingers, this is just my own experience. Since I joined eRep, I've always felt welcome. When I joined the forum, I took the time of discovering all topics and debates. I have never felt that "older" people looked down on me or forced me to vote/debate in their favor, or that they were creating their own little group of people who managed everything. If everyone just keeps debating in a civil way, not changing facts etc. I hope this "elite" thing can be forgotten.
This also made me think about my future on eRep. If things keep going like this, I feel myself forced to become a 2-clicker. This was never in my mind, but if this should happen, I skip the 2-clicking and just announce myself as "dead". To all people: please don't take it this far that I have to do this.
I hope this made EVERYONE think about their actions etc.
I felt really bad to put this in "The fun side", but the current situation forced me to.

Nice article and i deeply share your meaning !
Dear cooke4444 i totally share your meaning, but please don't become a 2-clicker
totally agree with you.
but stay active otherwise the others win
Well written, and it is unfortunally it has to be said.
I truly hope your words, and its meaning, will be heard.
And let us hope you will not have to step over to 2-clicking.
The problem can't be ignored... we have to fight them and the LCC will keep un fighting them.
Agreed we must fight this! eBelgium was never about elites, and i'll fight hard to keep it that way.
This is motivation enough to run for congress again next week!
totally in agreement
voted.
Very sad indeed...
Thank you for having an open debate about it.
One part of fun in the game, ranking up, means that through sheer dedication and activity (and the for most Western people easily earned and spent few eurocents per online hour), you automatically become part of the elite.
Fun in the game means you want to grow and become stronger and maybe share your strength & help our flag on the map.
Waging intestine conflict just for the purpose of electoral gain is against this purpose.
Belgium has a beautiful structure now. Quite a few kids can be proud of what they achieved.
But how do we avoid the jealous bully to tear it down?
Very well thoughtful and well presented, cooke4444. I agree. There is very little of thoughtful debate going on and way too much of emotional shouting. We have some very real problems to deal with in our eNation. Let's attack them and not each other.
When reading this, I recognize in the article a part of my behaviour. Things get heated at some times and actions causes some reactions, but that not always justifies them.
I have tried in the past to play as much as possible on the ball and not the person, I tried to give criticism, but probably not enough. I will do my best to improve!
+1000 Cooke, I'm tempted by the same idea. 😁
In the meantime you're MoHA so... move it and give me a hand you lazy boy !!! : p
there r serious situations caused by certain game characters. keep pointing the wickedness out can't make u go 2-click. c'mon, u don't need to make a victim of selve.
Well stated, and I totally agree!!
Nice article Cooke. What you say is one of the reasons I left the forum.
I think the majority feels the same way as you do. But ,as usual, the few "bad reactions" are the ones monopolizing debates.
it's a nice article.
For the "elitism", several players said that, but every gamer (president, congressman, or big soldier) is a gamer like a new player. No difference
The respect is the answer to your article.
+1
Indeed to much emotional reaction and personal attacks...
Please stay with us!
Elitism will never be banished I'm afraid.
I've heard this word like, forever😁.
