An allied politician visiting eNL

Day 2,979, 04:31 Published in Netherlands Poland by Shawtyl0w

Dear citizens of eNL,

I'd like to introduce the former president of eSweden, jontexd, who is visiting our ecountry this month. He decided to move to eNL and learn about our community before returning to Sweden where he will continue his political career.

Who is jontexd?

I am a Swedish citizen IRL and I live in the capital Stockholm. My ingame name jontexd comes from my first name IRL, Jonathan. People named Jonathan are often called Jonte in Sweden and I added xd simply for the lulz 🙂

In the past I've played eRep on a different account but I didn't remember login so I decided to create a new account two years ago. At the time I didn't have the time to stay active because of RL and my preference for other games. I found eRepublik again in the end of september 2015. I immediately got involved in politics and was elected as congress member in Sweden. Not much later I joined the government when Acreteq was elected as president.

Although I enjoy the political module I think the economical module is the funniest because making profit is an art in this game. You have to invest a little time into the game if you wish to make a good amount of money and even though the economical part of eRepublik is not as attractive as it once was, you can still make a good amount of profit if you are actively involved and reinvest your capital all the time.

What accomplishments have you realized in the past few months?

As metionned before I returned to eRep in September and served as prime minister for two months under Acreteq in the period October - November. In December it was my pleasure to serve as the elected President in Sweden.

I think my time as PM (vCP) was very important for my personal development as a politician, especially since I gained some experience going into my own term as CP. I knew what was going on in Sweden since I had been a government member and it helped me during my time as CP.

How would you describe your time as member of Orion Headquarters?

During the last term we had a really good SG in Orion, that did a great job in my opinion. But my time in Orion HQ wasn't magical what so ever, we discussed ongoing conflicts and how we could best solve the problems some alliance members had. When Sweden, Canada and France were occupied by Albania (Canada still is) we started coordinating RWs within the alliance to have the same start time so the damage done in the RWs was split. It was a good idea but enemy COs beat our coordination which was a shame.

We also helped Iran when Turkey NE'd them and we are still trying to help Canada in the struggle they have with the war vs Colin (eAlbanian Dictator).

Could you share something about the eSwedish political situation with regards to eNL?

Since you asked about the view on NL I suppose you mean the fact that the Swedish voted no in the first voting process about eNL's membership to Orion, and later when we re-voted one month later we also voted in favor like every other member country. To be honest the vote was not prepared enough before voting in congress started, not everyone in congress had received the proper information.

Once we explained that eNL would be a great addition to Orion since its strategic position on the map especially for us in the Sweden because since the time of the Asgard alliance we haven't really been allied to any country with a geographical position close to our core regions. There is a huge advantage to countries being near neighbours which was proven when both eSweden, eFrance and eNL NE'd eUK. Unfortunately this war didn't turn out very well for eSweden since approximently 2 Million cc was spent against us in our NE war with UK and in RWing our colonies in Denmark to stop the MPP-war and concentrate in taking out France and NL in which UK succeeded in a later stage. But for me it was a proof that the alliance planning and cooperation worked.

Now about politics in eSweden, we have some people that are tired of the way Plato decided to develop the game with an endless stream of packs. Currently this game in dictated by CO>Friendship which made many players so disappointed they have decided to run a personal agenda. The opinion that we should stop having wars and put embargo on everyone to end the game has become a way of playing eRepublik. I respect that they think that's the right way. Many of course don't agree with this extreme idea but it makes voting in the congress even harder with people having different opinions as politicians tend to have.

I am currently a member in the swedish government as MoF and I am still active in some of the discussions in the government and in Orion. I know that the situation in Norway (they are experiencing a military take over) has been on our priority list for quite a while, being MTOed is horrible and I feel really sorry for the Norwegians

You decided to move eNL for a short period of time, what do you hope to learn from us?

I ended my term as CP January 6th and decided to try something new and to try and find new fun players to talk with. I think that talking with other active players are what makes this game worth playing and you seem to have a small, cosy, nice community.

What opportunities do you see for eNL with regards to the military module?

I know that you guys have friendly bonds with eBelgium and they seem to have been without TP for quite a while. If I were CP I would definitely check the possibilities with having a TW with them. It gives the citizens TP and you can most likely coordinate to get RH and FF medals. But I wouldn't say to much about what eNL should do since I don't know what would be beneficial in the long run for eNL but TP is always good for boosting activity that's for sure.

You mentioned that the only way to stimulate the population is by having players heavily oppose each other from a political point of view could you briefly explain why?

Yea, I saw an article some days ago from this guy that didn't seem to be very popular in your community and I immediately thought that he is good for activating people. He writes some things that people don't agree with and he gets reactions from other persons with a different opinion. We have the same situation in eSweden with one party exercising a different agenda in comparison to others. They have all the right to debate as well and they often start debates for a raised minimum wage and the dear slogan of them “Embargo or Impeach”. This creates reaction from eSwedish players and the opposing opinions raise the activity and interest from everybody in the community.

Thank you very much for answering these questions. You elaborate answers allow our citizens to really capture your neutral stance on the situation in eNL and the situation in eSweden. I hope you enjoy your stay in eNL and hope you make many new friends!
