Agreed. I have no idea how our army is doing right now, but this seems the best chance to get Brussels back (while our English companions are attacking Flanders that is).

We need to declare war to Belgium before we can attack. That will cost 350 gold and will take 24h. Then we have to do the actual attack which will cost again a lot of gold. By the time we can attack Belgium will have not just a MPP with the USA but also again with Romania. So there is no way we can win in a frontal assault by the UNL.

If we still choice to do the above and we loose, then Belgium can attack us with the MPPs of USA and Romania so we (the whole of the UNL) could be occupied within two days because we cant hold off the strongest nations in the worlds.

The second thing you suggest is that we sign an MPP with the UK. The cost is 100 gold to do that and it will not allow us to fight in Belgium. An MPP is a defensive thing and only activats when orginal regions are attacked.

Mitch, you're again too afraid to rightfully play this game 🙂 Actually, I guess your opinion is somehow a disappointment for all the citizens of Benelux and even for us. But it's OK, we'll offer you the opportunity of defending your home soon enough.

lol Kristache we whooped your ass yesterday by blocking your MPP with Romania another 24 hours. And that after it took you 11h to figure out that your MPP was expiring.

It sounds to me like the Group is losing its touch. So i hear a lot of talk from you kristache and your buddies in the USA but even with 17 MPPs to back you up you refuse to attack either Russia or the UK. I smell cowards!!!

We need alliances with the United Kingdom and Germany (which will help defend us in case of backlash), and if we capture Brussels now, then we wont have to worry about a counter-invasion. The alternative is to wait for the day that Highst, the USA, and Romania get greedy again and attack Wallonia or the Netherlands.

Thomas, this is simply a battle we cannot win and at what cost?

If anything, Highst's capture of the territories in the first place demonstrates the success that the element of surprise can bring. If we capture Brussels before they can mount an effective defence (remember they also have to fight against the UK) then they wont have a platform to attack us back from, unless they start another resistance war.

And besides, even if we dont fight in Brussels, if we ally with the UK, and get involved in the fight in Flanders, then we wont just be letting the situation pass us by. Remember that if the UK wins this fight single-handedly without us as an ally, they wont have any duty to involve us in subsequent settlements. If we arent involved at all then defeat is the consequence no matter what the outcome is.

The UK can only win with the help of its allies. Yesterday they attacked Maine, USA, should we follow them as well? If fortune favors the brave then we should be brave and attack the USA. Maybe we should also follow the UK and attack Sweden while we are at it because that is what they did today as well.

I also think you are underestimating our financial position just opening the war and battle is 500 gold. Tanking and weapons will be sizable as well. If we would fail, and remember by the time we attack we will have to fight the USA and Romania, we will be broke and barely able to pay for a MPP to protect the orginal regions. The UK has a populations 7x as big as us and has much more financial means so you cant compare us to them.

And just for the record we are helping the UK, our army is there and we are co-ordinating with them. If they win they will give us a saying in what happens. They arent the Romanians that dont care about what the Belgians want.

The Defense Department and the President are right and top of this and we are exploring all options and will hit when we can.

@Mitch - I wrote a very long counter-argument, but by then eRepublik had signed me out. So here is the jist -

We can agree, surely, that we need the formal alliance with the United Kingdom. If we arent big enough to defend ourselves then we need friends to help us, and if we win Brussels back in the process then that is fantastic. We need the alliance with the United Kingdom, and the citizens of the UNL should be worried that there is seemingly no progress on this. I appreciate that alot of people are fighting with the UK, I would be if I werent a party president - but that is all the more reason to get the alliance formalised. I am also not sure anymore, that size is necessarily a substitute for organisation when it comes to military power.

Mpp's are expensive, so it is good to talk about which ones are good to have (see forum 😉 ). We can't have a MPP with every country we want.

But at the moment we have MPPs with what is it... Serbia? I doubt the benefits of this versus the benefits of an MPP with the UK. People are complaining about the lack of training wars, the UK can provide us with real wars and we arent taking the opportunity. I think this is complete madness.
