Dear Citizens of Great Estonia!
As an eInternational Citizen, I feel I have seen many styles of governing, what is good and what is bad. The cliques of America, the division of Germany and the hunger of Romania are imperfect, as any institution created by man is. But there are good qualities within these governments, as I have observed from the citizen and the watchdog nespaperman standpoints, and I hope to bring as many of those qualities together for the good of this new ground, this new nation, Estonia.
Defence:
As a member of Congress, I will be voting consistently for funding for our troops. I will propose funds for foreign operations in Romania and elsewhere so our military can flex its muscles and gain experience while we wait for foreign aggression.
In regards to Defence Systems, I will be voting for the placement of Q4 DSs in several regions, but probably not all. Q4 Hospitals will also be beneficial, but I think we need one Q5 Hospital and Q5 DS somewhere in Estonia, probably the capital.
Equality:
As Derakor put forth, this nation has been put together by Estonians and foreigners, including myself, all of whom wish to have a sovereign Estonia. While many others wish it for good trade, alliance or otherwise, my reason for having a sovereign Estonia is to please the romantic in me, to just see a nation live on its own with its own people being the true force behind it. Essentially, we are all here to see a sovereign Estonia, and as such are all equal.
Transparency:
The government needs to be an institution that is held accountable to the people, wherever possible. Of course military actions and other foreign ventures will have to be kept limited in exposure, but will have to be revealed once the time of action has passed, at least this is my belief.
Policy Making:
While there is no true "Constitution" section of erepublik, I feel we should stay true in general spirit to the constitution laid out in the forums. It is a work in progress, but gets most things right in my opinion. Policy should revolve around it's basic tenets, as well as just the general betterment of the Estonian state.
The Citizen Fee:
50 EEK is around 1 gold in the current monetary market. Giving a newbie such wealth is stupid. 10 EEK or even 5 would be more reasonable.
Foreign Policy:
The facts speak for themselves. We are boxed in, surrounded by ATLANTIS nations as well as our Baltic neighbors. To join PEACE is idiocy to the nth degree, regardless of your personal feelings about the matter. For me though, being from the US, I am quite happy of the prospect of joining ATLANTIS.
Forming MPPs will be critical, for our safety and for our economy. Why the economy, one may ask. If we are involved in wars around the world, we can use our hospitals to their full potential, helping increase wellness, thus increasing production, thus increasing business. Tax revenues will be greater, and our currency will become more valuable. Right now, Romania, US and Finland are my favorites in regards to forming MPPs. In regards to attacking our Baltic neighbors, that is completely idiotic. Not only are we not much stronger than they are, but they could easily form alliances with other nations and crush us. Friendship is much better in this case.
Associating with PEACE countries is counterintuitive. It will, regardless of our ATLANTIS alliance status, distance us from ATLANTIS, and PEACE isn't exactly made up of the wealthier nations in the world, so from a business and military standpoint little will be accomplished. We should stick with our allies and try to become friendly with third parties in order to achieve maximum safety and prosperity.
Though I am new to the erepublik political world, I found this game through a political sim (http://z10.invisionfree.com/Virtual_Politics/index.php?act=idx) and have great interest in politics in general. I am aware of the international stage's happenings, and hope to translate these strengths into benefits for Estonia. I believe I am capable and know that I am willing to invest in Estonia, for its future and sovereignty.
The choice is yours, Estonia, especially those in Pohja, where I will be running once I return from creating our major iron supply company in Romania. I hope you all will vote for me this coming election, thank you.
