About ... reality

Reading the comments from last article I got the sensation that we could hardly believe all the ... translation, editions and so of a ... book, to make it believable for us.

So, how this happen ?

I will „quote“ here, some other thoughts of my new friend Raj:

See, some rabbis could say the very base of Christianity is an error of translation because in ancient Hebrew language the same word could describe a young woman and a virgin one.
Let me explain.

The Christian Bible is a collection of text’s collected in time and translate in ancient Greek by a council of 72 rabbi’s in the form of Septuagint.
Talking about a translation sure some misinterpretations could be there too.

Then she was transcribed (that time they have no printers 😃 ) in various manuscripts and every transcription is subject to some changes.

To make it more intresting, the christians have splited in severals forms and they (each Church) made another council to decide which is the proper form of the Bible of that church.

Even more interesting is the fact that recently (about 20 years ago) they found some ancient text somewhere in the desert (Qumran), text’s that where not in the Bible of any Church so, they decided to study those texts far from the world eyes. Results where never published, but some parts of texts have became public.
Fact is that neither Christians nor Jews like very much to talk about this.


Now, all this reminded me the story from the book of Umberto Eco (The island from tomorrow) which say something like this:

A master decide to send he’s friend some figs in a basket, so he prepare the basket and instruct a servant (or slave) to deliver them to he’s friend. He also added a letter to the basket, with some words for he’s friend.

The servant, because was very hot take a rest on some tree shadow and, considered he could have some figs too, because the master friend could not know how many they were.

When he arrive and deliver the basket, the master friend also write a letter and ask the servant to bring it back to he’s master.

Once back home, the master after reading the letter from he’s friend order that the servant should be beaten hard because he steeled (and eaten) 10 figs from the basket.

After few weeks the same servant was sent to deliver another basket of figs and a letter.
This time he stopped for a rest too, but when eaten the figs he was hiding the letter, for she could not see and testify of he’s stealing.

We will soon go back to our topics (and I have another surprise for you). For now, tell me what you think about this form of ignorance, that keep us away from the real truth, the real facts ?
