A Tear-Jerking Account of My Time in the Independent Aliance

Day 1,937, 12:35 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Matthew.Cox

I was looking through my articles and noticed I've published no pro-Independent Alliance propaganda or anything else about us, for that matter. So I thought I'd write about something that new players might be able to relate to, but really to make myself look good as someone who contributes - that one's for you, Hugh. Consequently, I thought a short account of how my time in the Independent Alliance and how I've been supported is in order. So here it is, in my typical bullet-pointed style (bullet points not included):

1. There's opportunity to advance early on. In the party, being a new player isn't necessarily a disadvantage if you want to get involved in policy making or become a party official. I'd only been a member of the eUK for two days when I became the party spokesman (not to blow my own trumpet, metaphorically, of course) and I think this was possible because of the support I've received. I've learnt an awful lot about the game and how it works, but still have much more to learn about.
2. The nature of the party helps new members to thrive. This point can be broken down in to two more sub-points which are: the democratic nature of the Independent Alliance and the way that everything is so laid back. As I'm sure most of you aware, the Independent Alliance is the only fully democratic party that takes the views of its members on board. We vote for party officials at our monthly conferences, vote for who we want to represent us in congressional elections (in a new preferential point-based system), vote for who we want to support in the CP elections and - most importantly- on policy. This links with the way that everything is so laid back because everybody's voice is completely equal - the Party President's role isn't so authoritative now.
3. Other people seem to agree. The Independent Alliance has been this month's fastest growing party, so we must be doing something right. If you're new or disillusioned with your current party, seriously consider joining the Independent Alliance to get your voice properly heard. I can't stress enough what a joy its been to be a member of the Independent Alliance so give it a try! It's the best thing you'll do in your time in the eUK!
