A Response to the CEP Platform, and an Introduction

Introduction

Hello! I am Leps Dissim - I wasn't planning on starting a newspaper, but as I was reading the CEP Platform (which read like Bruck's campaign speech,) I took issue with a number of his promises. At first I was just going to comment, but I decided halfway through that what I had to say was worth a newspaper article.

I don't have a lot of plans for this newspaper over time, but it will be a convenient soapbox, I think, for me to say my thoughts on eCanada.
About Me

I am a member of the Canadian Paradox Party, and a Congressman representing British Columbia.
I am also a member of the 20th Omega Reserve Platoon of the CAF.

I was quite surprised when I was asked by Adasko to run for Congress, seeing as how I hadn't been active in forums at all, outside of signing up, but he wanted the CPP candidate for British Columbia to be an active player.
Needless to say, I was even more surprised when I won a seat in that election

Since then, I've done my best to keep up with the discussions in Congress - I haven't said much, but that's because I still feel that I'm very much a novice to eRepublik. I'm learning the nature of the politics here and getting a hang for the economic complexities - but you should know that my words are those of a political novice. That said, I will do my best to be honest.
My Response

"If reelected I promise to place our third Q5 Defense System in Nova Scotia, protecting eCanadians is this governments top priority."

Congress has already voted to place this Defense System in Nova Scotia - I'm new here so I don't know exactly how things work, but how is this "promise" special? We're going to do this anyway... aren't we?


"Until such time I offer an organized and agreed upon attack on France."

If this is a reference to the recent attack on Pays-de-la-Loire, I don't think that "organized" and "agreed upon" are accurate choices at all - the war wasn't announced at all in any Congressional forum, by any member of Cabinet. What's more, a member of the cabinet itself was unaware of the attack. I won't say whom. It doesn't seem to me like this attack was planned at all.


"That is why, if reelected I will propose congress pass for full transparency to eCanadian citizens."

As others have said, I don't see why you wouldn't make this proposal now - there may be political turmoil to some degree, but the Congress is well settled in by now. I, personally, have no problem with you making said proposal before the election.

I checked the Constitution about privacy of Congressional Discussion forums and saw nothing against my talking about decisions that have already been made there, and I don't think any of this is a national security issue either. If I have broken the Constitution let me know and I'll be sure to edit what I must.
