A Response to N4zGuL

Day 1,731, 07:25 Published in USA USA by Emerick

So I woke up today, did some clickan, and read a few articles in what's left of eRep's media module today, ran across GaMa's outgoing PP's thoughts on the state of America. I have quite a bit to say in response to it, so I thought I'd just dedicate an article to the cause.

First of all, I have to applaud N4zGuL on writing a somewhat thought-provoking piece on current and recent affairs. I haven't seen much, and even I haven't written anything worth calling thought-provoking on the goings-on since CTRL came to light, so kudos.

Now onto the meat:

First, he (not surprisingly) called Evry's term a failure. An extremely common opinion, especially amoungst the Euros and Eden-lovers. I had the same opinion, even though I've been pro-new alliance and pro-CanAm war. My take on Evry and her term in office was that she mostly really really sucked at media, even though her articles were amusing, but as a leader, you're required to not only pander to your base(that'd be me), but also persuade the haters. Evry failed to persuade anyone, or even make an honest attempt to. She never tried to sell the idea of allying Spoland with us and Brozil, and her explaination of the war with Canadia, while ~funnylolsilly~, was not good enough. Granted, selling the idea of going to war with a country who we've danced around invasions with for the last 3 years is a really really tough one - no one will claim otherwise. It's a concept that needs strong support of all varieties all over, and it didn't really have that. Those of us who supported the war mostly supported it because the idea amused us, but there was also the fact that the leaders of Canadia basically decided that they were going to abandon the Brolliance as we moved forward into CTRL to strengthen America's power and influence in the world. We figured that if they were against CTRL, then they were against us, so why the hell not. Right?

Even N4zGuL agrees that CTRL was a strategically good move for us. So a good portion of us who were for it, supported invading Canadia. Another portion didn't. But that's alright, we can't all have iron wills. There's an element of heart involved in alliances, that's true. But it's also true that the idea of love between countries is an idea sold to the populace from politicians. So think critically about your love of Canadia, if you have it, Americans. Is your affection for Canadia a concept that your mins created, based on personal experiences? Or was it hammered into your skull over the period of several years until you couldn't bear to think of them as anything butt a life partner?

Back to CTRL - it would not only strengthen and secure America's status as a superpower, but also open the door to the possibility of new and exciting wars. Wars you may agree with and jump into wholeheartedly, or not. But more wars irregardless. And more interesting wars. More interesting campaigns.

Moving on....
N4zGuL puts on a tinfoil hat~

>My personal opinion is that this break of the alliances is what admins seek.
Honestly if i was an admin i would do the same having 4-5 people in each country that matters coming out of hibernation and turning the tables in regards to alliances or should i say possible wars or may i even say need of Dollars/Euros spend to win battles.

WAIT WHAT

That's right, this guy just suggested that people such as myself were pulled out of hibernation by the admins to push the idea of CTRL. He honestly said that.

But let me back up a bit.

>My personal opinion is that this break of the alliances is what admins seek.

Eh, not necessarily. Breaking up superalliances would indeed bring more interest to the game, but for the right reasons. A 1984ish world is only mildly amusing for so long, and then you realize that the world is entirely static and it ends up being like a sitcom - in the end of the episode, nothing substantial really changes. Real conflicts that bring about real and disasterous/wonderful results is enthralling, and frankly, it's a game I'd like to play. Because guess what. I PLAY GAMES FOR FUN NIGGA AND BANGING MY HEAD AGAINST THE SAME SERVIAN WALL FOR 5 YEARS IS NOT FUN.

I don't care who you are, it's not fun.

Even the Croatians left the fight and moved to Mexico a few years ago. Airstrikes, it seems, is going to give countries the opportunity to leave endless wars, mind-numbing wars. No one likes them.

But that's not the concept N4zGuL brought about. He suggested that the admins would profit more.

It's pure conjecture, but I'd argue that he's probably right, because more people would be willing to put their time and effort into the game. Because it would be more interesting.

Does anyone remember beta anymore? Those few, few months where everything was up in the air, before the superalliances came to be, when foreign affairs was more than just being polite to those countries you've been allied to for generations, when enquiring minds were aflame at the possibility of what will happen next to which country and for what reason....

That was a good game.

And it boggles my mind that nearly half the eRep population has no interest in returning to it. Do they just hate the game so much that they're making it completely suck(beside the work that the admins have been to make that so), that they're holding the world hostage into 2 equal factions that will never gain power over each other?

Possibly, or maybe they're just lame.

But really, N4xGuL's rant against CTRL is really just a rant against the admins. Which is strange, because these guys play the game. Why would they contribute to this game in such a strong way if they honestly wanted to see it destroyed? He's possibly full of it, and is just another Eden puppet. Or maybe he's incapable of logic. I'm not sure which.
