And no, it's not a troll.
This article is just to soothe a few of your fears - you won't be annexed. Despite being your larger neighbour, Britain is also a small country, and we are also feeling the affects of the admins decision to allow bigger countries to annex all the small ones, in return for a bit of cash.
It seems Ireland is having an extremely hard time recently - with your bank being emptied (good luck with that btw), and the admins changes.
We now have the choice - pay hundreds of GOLD each month (which small countries can't bring in) or be annexed the moment you are attacked.
Seeing as cannot afford this GOLD - it is buy it with your own money, or die.
It is for this reason, that I have decided not to buy GOLD ever again - congrats, admins.
I just want to wish Ireland the best of luck with not getting annexed, and we will attempt to do the same.

PS - In response to a pondering in an Irish article, the clown I use has white, red and green hair because of the Welsh colours.

I completely agree with you Donovan - I have also never overly criticised the admins like many others, or that the game is going to end soon.
However, it is true - soon, it will be the USA fighting Serbia in one huge war. I frequent this game less and less, and as you said, one day I'm just not going to come any more.

It's pretty scary when Maddog publishes in the Irish media and doesn't troll. It's definitely a sign that this game is going down the toilet.

It's indeed a pity the way the game has changed since bringing in the money-whores. Maybe you can find some solace in the fact they'll probably turn around all of these decisions as well in a few weeks.
I've worked for companies with user bases a fraction the size of eRepublik, and they would murder me for even suggesting we implement our "ideas" in production and disrupt 100pc of the user base. I just can't believe a company with so much financial potential has not yet invested in a talented management team to bring it forward; they can't even use spell-checkers in their official articles for FFS.
I'm just about fed up of playing a game that is in perpetual beta - how can you win at anything if the rules change mid-game? Meh.
We all lament the state of affairs. Nothing much to be added to the avalanche of despair and dislike.

I too have avoided open criticism of the changes because it was just too soon to judge the effects. But now that 'the little boys upstairs' have back-tracked on v2 and seem to making it up as they go along, it's no longer a GAME, but random chaos inflicted upon us all.
It's like staying in a hotel for a week and they decide to renovate:
"Excuse me, when will the builders be out of my room?"
