A lack of politics; our eventual downfall?

Day 878, 09:25 Published in USA USA by Necrosis

I'm going to start this article off with a few numbers. They explain everything, as well as meaning I don't need to keep writing them over and over

April 2010 presidential election; number of voters, 2794.
April 2010 party president elections; number of voters for the top 8 parties*; 1703

*Yes, there are more parties than this. They're small though, and I'm too lazy to check each election. For the purposes of this article, I'll be considering about 300 extra votes on top of the 1703, so around 2,000

Even with the addendum there, thats a difference of 800 votes. Ok, 800 votes. Thats fine, party elections aren't important, right?

Wrong.

Read this. See that? Thats bad. We shouldn't have let this happen. This puts the country at risk.

Ever since last summer, when the USA was invaded, politics in this country has pretty much ground to a halt. I like this, I'm not a politician; I'm a loudmouthed manipulative bastard. I'd forgive you for getting the two confused, it's an easy mistake to make.

Ok, so, I dislike politics, but am here right now, bemoaning the lack of politics within the country, and posting seemingly unrelated statistics and links. Fear not, it will all become clear soon.

The lack of any real political movement within the country is slowly allowing our enemies to obtain US citizenship, run for congress, let more people in, and then repeat the cycle on a larger scale, month by month. Every congressional election is a mad scramble for a few hardworking individuals, who aim to keep the country safe.

Ok, but we don't let them onto the off site congress forums, so it's not a problem, right? Wrong. They can propose laws when we don't want them too, meaning we can lose money, due to not being able to remove it from the country accounts. A pain in the arse, but nothing horrible. They can propose an impeachment. This is more problematic. An impeachment vote can only be done once every 7 days. If it is done, say, day 1 by a foreign agent, and then the President, for whatever reason, cannot get onto eRepublik as of day 3, we cannot remove them until day 8. That means 5 days where the USA can't make attacks, propose MPPs, and a few more unimportant things. This could be potentially huge, and would change the course of a war; it has been done before

Ok, so, thats bad. Horrible, in fact. In fact, given enough time, they could have a President of their own, and I don't need to write an overly long paragraph in an annoying, condescending manner in order to get across the point of how bad this is.

But what can you, the average American do?

-Get involved in a political party
This doesn't mean you need to suddenly begin sounding off about how awesome party X is, and how much rival party Y sucks. Far from it in fact; make a post or two on a parties forum, make yourselves available if you're needed by the party to protect the security of the country. Vote in party president elections, keep the parties in safe hands. Or at least hands that aren't jerking off and strangling America. Simultaneously.

-Sign up to be a blocker
Parties are expected to get blockers for each region they do not run a serious congressional candidate. See this article for more information. Subscribe to it as well, so you stay informed about whether your vote is needed overseas, to protect our allies and friends from a fate similar to the one I described above.

But what is blocking? Essentially, each party needs to run 1 person in each state. If only one person candidates in that state, then they're automatically on the ballot. If 2, the party president chooses. Now, blockers are there to make sure that a foreign agent isn't the 1 person candidating there, and thus getting onto the ballot by default.

-Pay attention on election days. Ok, so you want to avoid politics completely. I understand, and actually agree with what you're saying. Just pay attention to the US media, watch the major elections, know where this stuff is happening. Use your vote somewhere it matters, instead of being person 390 to vote for someone popular in Karnataka. (Also, move to Karnataka you fools).

Simple. Read this, understand it, love it. Although if you do the latter, please, clean up afterwards.. No one wants a sticky article.
