A Guide To Getting Time Well Wasted

Day 965, 12:49 Published in USA USA by Dodgercatcher

We've had a bit to figure things out in V2/Rising so far and I know people have many different ideas about how to do things. I feel that I have gotten the time management down well enough to share some of my ideas with you, hopefully you will take them and improve on them.

FOOD AND HOUSING

This is the most important part of time management. The more happiness you can get out of these the less time you need to spend "chilling." I currently get four happiness a day from my house and 5 happiness a day from my food. So keeping that in mind I always keep a count in my head of how much happiness I would have if I just stopped right now. This helps keep you from making mistakes and getting happiness lower than about 95 ( I shoot for 100 everyday, but settle for 99). If you constantly run the numbers you can lay out your plan for that day. Remember you don't always have to do the same thing everyday, which means that some days your happiness can be lower but you just have to make it up the next few days.

WORK

Most people start with work, I am one of them. The default setting is eight hours of work, but for those of you making a small amount of money this probably isn't enough money for food. I usually work ten hours instead, but yours will vary depending on your food and house combination. This means taking time away from other things but it's usually worth it since you're getting payed to spend time doing this and you gain some exp. and skill from it.

TRAINING

Now you are going to start customizing a bit more. I have been putting four-five hours into training everyday. This seems about right to me unless you don't want to fight at all or are a career soldier. This might change once the war module is released so stay tuned.

THE LIBRARY

This is where I usually skip out on time. By running the numbers I usually only get one or two hours here because I need the rest to relax and regain my happiness to full strength. I haven't seen much use for using the library and I mean really, who likes libraries anyways? 😛

CHILLAXING

Or whatever you want to call it is your best tool in time management. Always use it, and I mean ALWAYS. The main problem you're going to encounter in this is not remembering your "magic number" or how much happiness you get from your food & house combo. There's no point in relaxing more than you have to because then you're just wasting the money you spent on your magic number. And be sure to count twice, click once because I've already had days where I forgot how much time I needed and ended up over chillaxing.

OTHER STUFF

Remember that for every hour you work/train/study you lose one happiness. I've also made the mistake of not taking that into account and ending up with less happiness than I wanted because I forgot about it. So I usually lose sixteen happiness a day, gaining eight back with chilling, and nine from my magic number so I am actually wasting one happiness a day. The most important thing overall is to try new things and push boundaries. Also using a calculator never hurts.
