A friend gone away..

Day 2,136, 15:49 Published in China Russia by HumbleBe
The other day I was stunned by a move of the South Korean government. I must admit that I did not see this coming. Yes, I was aware of a nation not being happy of not getting as much help as previously anticipated, but such an action was definitely not in the agenda.

I will begin with a short paragraph about myself. My humble persona is not known to the wide public of this game. I, however, have had the pleasure to sit on the alliance channels for quite some time now. Therefore, I tend to think that I have what it takes to build an opinion on the current issue.

I remember the times when Ernesto Jeon was Country President of South Korea. He used to be a real inspiration to me. Simply because he showed in practice how a small country like SK can influence the biggest at the time alliance in the game. Yes, dear reader, a country with less than a thousand citizen at the time had its word very well heard in the CoT alliance.

But what happened to South Korea in such a short time? Prior to joining CoT, more than a year ago, they had already lost the taste of having a congress. Being part of the alliance not also ensured their sovereignty but also allowed them to lead stable internal and foreign politics. Not every country has the luxury to execute a plan for long term development and a baby boom. South Korea did it. I will also allow myself to remind the public of the Operation Gangnam Style, lead by the President of the United States, CoT Trial Member at the time. The main aim of this Op was the liberation and long term congress for both South Korea and Japan. And while it really took quite some time to concentrate on this front, the Op resulted in an agreement with eRoC, which they broke two or three months later (or undermined the CP institution - chose for yourself which is worse 😛). The point is, CoT didn't leave SK alone in those months. Neither did SK leave CoT. Their President had the word during CoT summits very often and I would be happy to see him sharing an opinion on his experiences in the comments below.

..And then the struggles began. Last three months have been too rough for this alliance that had to grow up to be the leader many people were missing against a real beast, leading destruction and society devastation after them. Against all odds CoT stood against this Goliath and in August many countries saw congress again. South Korea, however, was not one of them. Does that mean they were forgotten though? Quite a few other countries didn't make it too, including Bulgaria and Macedonia. The victories continued in September too. Bulgaria won't have congress again, but Macedonia succeeded in executing a double-edge campaign - not only that they got congress, they also left two TWO countries without one - Australia and former CoT member New Zealand. Unfortunately, it didn't work that well for South Korea and now we are seeing them leave us 🙂

The friendship between CoT and South Korea was only a year long, but it does remind me of another break-up from this week. Brazil and USA, after almost three years of full cooperation, the two countries are on the two sides of the barricade once again. The reasons that lead to this can be looked for in the political instability in Brazil, but can be found in the lost contact between the two nations. Yes, CAT will continue to support their old friends, just like FAR continued supporting theirs, but a MU no matter how powerful cannot replace a whole country..

This game is not simply clicking a red button. It is about a society. A closed society. Here you make and lose friends all the time. And the only reason somebody will come to help you is because they know you will do the same for them one day. This is an utopia many still believe in. But truth be told, keeping in touch with people, simply to keep the contact alive, to say "hi, how are you" every now and then does pay back.

And here both sides forgot to do that. I am fully aware that CoT is far away from the perfect alliance. There is so much to improve in it that many would rather give up. But we cannot do so. Most of us are here because of the common enemy. Some of us are here because of the fun we are having. Because of CoT. And I already see people starting to believe in CoT, which makes me happy.

But let me go back to one of the opening paragraphs. How could EJ make SK's voice heard in CoT and the recent administration - not? No, they are not new to this, I've had the pleasure to know theirina and she is an awesome diplomat, one only a few countries have. But still, communication was lacking and when things went the wrong way, nobody did what it had to be done to prevent this sad ending. From my point of view, the SK administration doesn't have the right to blame the alliance for the failure of their military campaign, but the CoT administration could have put more effort into dealing with the issue afterwards. On the other hand, SC potato134 has been on his own for another two weeks after co-SC Konrad resigned and SK (alongside all other full members) has indirect fault for the alliance not being able to give them the attention they've expected.

tl;dr nobody is right, everybody is wrong, evil is done, we move forward

All in all, the whole story is very bitter for me. Not because TWO made another victory over CoT. It's neither their first one, nor will be the last .. I'm sad because I lost a friend I didn't have to lose. But now they've gone to a better place I don't have much else to do but to wish them all the best and to thank them for all the fun we had together 🙂

Thank you for reading. Feel free to express your opinion below 😛

Leaving you with this beauty..
