A fresh face throwing his hat in the ring - please read on ...
Apples123
Hi All,
To those of you who do not know me, I would like to introduce myself and announce I am running for election in the Northwest of Ireland. I am currently the Vice President of Clann na nGael and am running under the Irish Freedom Party (so thanks for that IFP !).
I am going to keep my manifesto relatively short and not bore you with overall goals for the economy and our military etc. etc. etc.
The reason for this is because I find them boring to read (in general) and so often candidates cannot predict what will happen in the future so broad promises are without substance behind them. This idea is linked to one of my main strengths for being a candidate in the upcoming election and that is this …… as a (relatively) new citizen to eRepublik, I do not hold any grudges or pre-determined biased towards any person or party.
My aim is to approach each conversation/idea with a open minded and level headed approach, weighing up an arguments positives and negative, and deciding upon a course of action (with the guidance of my constituents) based on the facts or principles, rather than who is making the proposal/argument.
All too often in the past I have seen rivalries and former feuds get in the way of progress or quick and decisive decision making and action. I do not want to let this continue to hamper us going forward.
I am also a very active player, logging on 7 days a week. I believe in transparency, and if elected I will keep you updated with what’s going on in the Dail, relevant issues raised and the different approaches and opinions of those involved to get the thought of the citizens who I represent.
I aim to bring fresh enthusiasm and energy to the role and be open with all involved and let everyone know where we are at. Let’s work together to make eIreland stronger instead of dividing it with petty rivalries.
If this sounds appealing to you, please give me a chance, vote for me in the upcoming elections and I will strive to repay your faith in me with action.
Thanks for reading and most importantly, enjoy the game for what it is, because at the end of the day it is a game. Please PM me to discuss further or if you want to chat in general.
Kind Regards,
Simon

I enjoyed the Manifesto Simon, it is new faces and dedicated people that are needed in Congress. People that will ask questions and inspire others in the Country.
I will support my Party VP, and I encourage other to do so.
For Clann na nGael! For Ireland.
You should still have some goals of things you would like to see happen.
At the very least you should tell us your personal stance on issues such as Foreign Affairs, Economy, Social programs and Military.
Give us a little more to go on if you want a vote. Fresh faces are nice where they have solid policy knowledge behind them 😉
Hi DT, I want to improve our foreign affairs relationships, strengthen the economy and get involved militarily to help citizens to level up through fighting - all pretty standard fare I would have though - as I say above, you cannot really differentiate candidates based on this - they tell you what you want to hear - I hope my actions will show what I am made of -
... I am also aware that I will not have the power to make these decision unilaterally - it will be a joint decision based on mutual goals
Too true.
For Clann na nGael! For Ireland!
I agree. You should not make promises that may not be relevant due to changes you can not control. No one in government will have total power or dictate what will get done. We will need people who can compromise and work with others to mold good ideas into a future for Ireland.
I don't know why I bother sometimes. Politics used to mean something. If you ran you had an agenda, a concept, an idea of what you would like to see happen. It seems that because of this: "I will not have the power to make these decision unilaterally" people stop trying. You need to make yourself standout. I want to know WHY you deserve the job. WHY should we elect you over some other "fresh face" bloke.
I am doing this to help. I just hate seeing would-be representatives of the people trying to get elected but having nothing of substance to go off. So, yeah, you have to stick yer neck out a wee bit, lay it on the line. What will you do for eIreland? and don't give the same ol pathetic I'm active! or I'm Bi-partisan! or I'm going to make change!
I really don't know what politics has come to nowadays.
Don - I thought you said recently you were leaving eRepublic for good - tired of the BS you said - well I appreciate what you’re saying so I have had a look through your previous articles to get some inspiration for "sticking my neck out".
The boldest thing I saw was your opinion that we should join an alliance (about 6 months ago - "Manifesto: My love and life for Ireland"😉 but then more recently in your "final bid for the Dail” you have strongly proposed we join the ‘Entente Alliance’ and were actively talking to other countries about joining.
See what I mean - seems kind of silly to originally say, and I quote:
"These Alliances encumber the nations they inhabit. Small Nations cede power to the ever tightening grip of Coalitions and Proud lands lay wasted by the great Pact. I hope I never see that day when the sovereign soil that is our birth right is handed over, lock and key, to oppressors and tyrants"
and then be for them 5 months later. That is not what I am looking to do here.
Best of luck.
You are very welcome to run through IFP 🙂
Best of luck!
