A Day in the Life of a Super Soldier

S.E.E.S.: In Conflict and Victory
1st Operation: IMMA FIRIN MALAYSIA

I woke up, groggy from a late night of watching spysat screens for phoenix surprise attacks. I glanced at the alarm clock, swatted at the wall in anger at its annoying buzz. The screen read 0900 eRep standard time. I was about to slip off back to sleep when my brain finally registered what time it was. I rushed out of my bunk thinking "OH SHI- I'm late." The briefing was scheduled to start at 0800, I was going to be late! Being late to a briefing warranted LEVEL 3 punishment. Out of habit, I pulled my PDA out of my pocket and checked my orders. "MA in Dublin @ 1000 eRep." I slowed down my pace and cursed loudly at the wall of the corridor. I composed myself and casually walked to the briefing room. I input my access code, and walked in. We were going to be deploying in Dublin in one hour. SEES SS had deployed last night and fought off the initial push, but the redcoats captured most of the region after they went to sleep. We were dropping in early to resecure the region and hold it until reinforced. Wallingbottom ended the briefing, and I headed to the armory to grab my gear and my rifle. I grabbed some coffee on my way out and boarded the waiting C-130 with my fellow Super Soldiers.

"Five minutes!" The pilot called out through the radio. "Alright ground troops, radio check!"
"This is ArcNox, read you loud and clear!" One by one the militiamen responded. "Alright, Helos have deployed and cleared a landing site. Ground forces are to proceed southeast to the capital."

"Thirty seconds!"

The door began to open, and the soldiers got into position to jump.

"We're over the target, Dio guide you."

Half a dozen Infantrymen jumped out the backside of the aircraft. As I pulled my parachute release, I watched the tanks dropping out of the other C-130s. I looked down. It seems the flyboys did their job and cleared the area, no significant enemy presence in sight. I braced myself as I landed, and quickly ditched the parachute. I sounded off on my radio, "ArcNox, at the drop zone. Orders sir?"

"Proceed towards the capital and reinforce the south flank."

"You heard the commandant. Let's go fgts..."

---

I walked out of the medical tent. The medic in charge said they were running out of supplies, and that they'd have to send me away from the front line next time. I looked to the horizon, and saw what I dreaded the most. An entire redcoat tank division was poised to take the capital. As I went to redeploy for one last fight against the redcoats, I was stopped by the Desert Fox, Max Wallingbottom III. "Soldier, come with me." I saluted and followed him towards the command tent. "It seems we have a spai in our midst. Make sure nobody walks out of this tent" I saluted, and watched as he walked inside. He looked around the room, and walked up to one of the radio operators. "What is your unit, soldier?"

"Ummm, well, erm-" his statement was interrupted by Wallingbottom's sidearm being pressed against his head. "Quality spying. It ends now." Wallingbottom pulled the trigger and said, "Too bad you didn't get anything useful. ArcNox!"

"Sir!" I said as I marched over.

"Get this body out of the way and order the retreat."

"Yes sir!" I moved the dead spai out of the way and put on the headset, ignoring the blood and other unpleasantness covering it. "All SEES SS units, proceed to extraction points. Repeat, all SS units to extraction points." I took off the headset, and followed Wallingbottom to the C-130. As the door closed, I watched soldiers frantically deconstructing the CP. Nobody said a word on the flight home.

---

I looked at the clock. It read 1800. Wallingbottom, and most of the senior staff had stayed in the briefing room, discussing possible security and encryption improvements. I was about to head to the break room for a cup of coffee when the phone rang. Wallingbottom walked over and put it on speaker. "Commandant, we have just received a call for you. The caller used a diplomatic access code."

"Put him through"

"Right away commandant"

"Hello?"

"Is this the commander of the SEES super soldiers militia?"

"Yes it is, Commandant Wallingbottom speaking."

"This is Jelly, calling on behalf of the Philippine military. We require immediate assistance. As you may be aware, the country of Malaysia is under imminent threat of Political take over. The legitimate government has asked us to intervene and prevent the election of a takeover president. Unfortunately, Servian mobile divisions have deployed in Peninsular Malaysia, and we must conquer it within the next four hours."

"Sir, I can prepare a list of SS who are well enough to deploy."

"Hold, ArcNox. We are sticking to orders and deploying to Croatia." JeepAmerica walked over from the map of the New World, and said, "Malaysia's independence is important to the stability of our position in Asia. I've received reports that Thailand has been infiltrated. That gives Phoenix a straight shot to India." Wallingbottom seemed lost in thought for a moment, carefully weighing his decision. "Alright, we'll deploy to the Philippines on our way over to Croatia. How many SS are in fighting shape?"

"Not that many sir. Many of the men are out of action from the battle earlier."

"Jeep, get as many men as you can together. I'll see about getting some US military support. Jelly, you might want to speak to the ATO units, and see if they can offer any assistance"

"I will see what I can do. Thank you commandant"

"ArcNox, go to the quartermaster and tell him to make sure everyone is equipped." I saluted and walked to the armory. "The commandant says we're deploying. Is everyone's equipment in order?"

"Yeah, your rifle's over there, and there's extra ammunition in the magazine."

"Actually, I think this fight warrants something a little... heavier. Can you get my M77 out of storage?"

"I was wondering when you'd use that. It's all fueled up, and we can get it ready to drop in five minutes."

"Thanks. I'm going to get suited up. Get it loaded into a C-130, and I'll meet you there."

"You got it ArcNox. Kick some ass for me." His voice trailing off as I walked to the locker room, and donned my body armor. On my way to the waiting C-130, I saw Wallingbottom, prepping his Helicopter for flight. I walked over to the commandant and asked, "What's the word on US military support?"

"No support this fight, all US military units are unable to deploy. Looks like we're going in alone."

"Roger that commandant." I saluted, and marched over to the C-130, already prepping for takeoff. I walked inside and stared for a moment at the M77 Mammoth tank fit snugly into the belly of the aircraft. I stood amazed at the modern marvel. Just 2 years ago, something like this would've taken three men to crew. Now, with advancements in automation it only took one. As I opened the hatch and dropped into the tank, the cargo door began closing, and the plane lurched forward as it taxied for takeoff. "Radio check, anyone read?"

"Roger that ArcNox, loud and clear. Just sit back and get ready to drop."

---

After a short flight, Wallingbottom's voice came through the radio. "Alright SS, we are coming up on the deployment zone. I've just received confirmation that we're dropping in alongside Philippine, Thai, Malaysian, Czech, Austrian, and Brolliance units. Once we touch down, start clearing the area. We have to delay Phoenix reinforcements until we can secure the region and the capital." An alarm sounded, and the cargo door began opening. "We are over the drop zone. All SS units, commence Operation IMMA FIRIN MALAYSIA." Suddenly, to my total surprise, the voice of der Fuhrer, Emerick THE GREAT came through the radio. "Kick some ass for me, my Super Soldiers."

"Yes, mein Fuhrer!" I shouted into my headset. Suddenly, the tank lurched backward, as it slid out the back of the aircraft. After two or three seconds the parachute deployed, and I nearly hit my head on the dashboard from the shock. As the ground approached, I braced myself for landing. The tank hit the ground, and the parachute released. I rolled away from the landing site. "This is ArcNox, I have successfully deployed."

"Roger that, proceed north and secure the area."

---

It wasn't long until we saw our first enemies. We quickly dispatched them and continued on our way. Suddenly, someone called out over the radio "Canadian tank heading this way! It's aiming in our direction!"

"Attention, Canadian tank Identify yourself!" No response.

"It's within range!"

"Hold fire!" Suddenly, a round struck next to a tank 20 meters to my left. "It's firing at us!" Someone called frantically on the radio

"I'm returning fire!" I called out. I quickly loaded two depleted uranium penetrators, and took aim at the tank. I pressed the fire button, and shot both barrels at the offending tank. One round hit 3 meters away from the tank, while the other hit dead on. The tank quickly retreated.

"Cease fire, cease fire, I am friendly! Just received updated orders, previous were FUBAR. I've been ordered to link up with you guys"

"DIO save us, you think? Whatever, start securing the area."

We split off, quickly securing the area.

---

I looked through my binoculars one more time. I already knew what was there, but I just wouldn't believe my eyes. The Servian tank division from Dublin had just deployed southeast of the capital. I quickly got on my radio and called "Significant enemy forces detected. All units are to continue securing the area west of the river." I dropped back down into my tank and closed the hatch. I rolled my tank over to unsecured sectors, fighting with purpose and harmony with my fellow Super Soldiers.

---

I lit my last cigarette as we prepared to support a final push to the capital. We needed to take it as soon as possible to prevent Phoenix reinforcements. If they were able to land reinforcements, they would secure the region in short order. "Alright, one last push. Ground forces cover the helos as they make the river crossing and move on the capital. All SS acknowledge"

"This is Arcnox, orders acknowledged" I rolled out towards the enemies guarding the river as the rest of the militia acknowledged Wallingbottom's command. I looked at the GPS display, checking how far off Phoenix reinforcements were. Not far, at the most five minutes away. We needed to take the capital and hold it to delay those reinforcements. I sighted the first of the enemies, and commenced firing. suddenly, I heard over the radio "Under attack by helos, requesting suppo-" The transmission was cut off, followed by an explosion not far away. I quickly moved my tank in that direction, determined to avenge my comrade. I sighted the offending helicopter, and readied Infrared guided missiles. As the helicopter came in on an attack run, I locked on the enemy unit. As it started firing rockets, I fired four missiles. I took several rocket hits, but remained operational. The helicopter was not so lucky, as it went down in a flaming spiral. As I watched with satisfaction at the burning wreck, Wallingbottom could be heard on the radio. "Phoenix reinforcements have deployed. All SEES SS units proceed to extraction points." I retreated, just in time, as two Phoenix air units began patrolling the area I had occupied two minutes ago. While loading up my Tank into the C-130 for the flight to Croatia, I heard Jelly on the radio, one last time. "On behalf of the Philippine and Malaysian people, I thank allied forces for their support. We fought the good fight this day." I smiled, more resolute than ever, as I boarded the flight for Central Croatia.
