KANTO - Jbic, current Vice President of eJapan, looked mildly tired after emerging from the Kanto Hospital after yet another war exercise in the north-western Lithuanian region of Samogitia. In between the crowds of citizens returning from Lithuania, the Report's Tokyo correspondant, Maya Kobayashi sat down with the new VP for an interview.

Can you tell us about yourself, your experiences and qualifications within eRepublik?

I first started eRepublik as a citizen of the US. When Germany was getting attacked by Poland & Sweden, I was discouraged by the United States' decision to sit idly by and allow Germany to be taken over. I was encouraged by my friend Habraka Abrivianius to move to Japan and help fight from here. Once I moved here, I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly everyone was. Since being a citizen of Japan, I have been a member of congress once in the Chugoku region, co-operated the JIA Weapons co., operated a successful weapons co. in the US, been an active member of the Japanese Imperial Army, become a regular on the eJapan IRC and the Japanese forums.

Personally, what do you feel your role of VP should be about and how has the job been so far?

So far, I have mostly been focusing on foreign and domestic relations. I believe the greatest resource in eRepublik is the people. I also spend a lot of time in IRC conversing with President Minamoto on different situations, discussing and debating different approaches to handle them. As Minamoto has stated before, he and I see alot of things differently, so it is always productive to attack situations at different angles to be able to find the most effective and productive solution. I greatly enjoy the opportunity to be able to give back to Japan in such a productive manner.

As a one-time congressmen, Vice President is a huge jump in stature. Without having been a minister or having looked over a department before, how do you plan to overlook all six departments?

I do not overlook all 6 departments, for that is the job of the president. I have/can help any departments that may need assistance.

It can be argued that you have a relatively low forum presence. We see 10 posts under your name. Do you have anything to say on this? Will this change during your time in Cabinet?

As far as forum presence, I frequent the forum 2-3 times a week. I only post when I truly believe that I have something valuable to add. I do most of my conversing with cabinet and other citizens on the IRC. The way I look at it is that in the time I take to post something, I could have already discussed it more thoroughly in chat.

Do you have any personal goals or benchmarks you are striving for in your role as VP?

The only goal I have is to help our country be the best that it can be and do my best to hear what the people want and do my best to make sure they get it.

President Minamoto mentioned that you usually have differing views in his interview with Ms. Fae. What's your take on this? Do you agree with his internal, external, and military policies?

Minamoto and myself do have different opinions on a lot of different situations. Like I stated previously, I believe this is very effective and necessary to making the best decisions for Japan. As far as his policies, I may not always agree completely with everything, but I know that President Minamoto will always make the best decisions for Japan and I stand behind his decisions 100%.

PEACE is a multi-nation alliance. You're agreeing to defend all of them from agression. On a whim, I'd say that Japan would not be willing to sign an individual alliance with all of them. Does this matter to you, that you are in effect defending nations that you would not defend individually?

Actually, Minamoto's policy was to try and aid all countries experiencing unwarranted aggression. It's true that this might conflict with PEACE, but he often tells me that he wants to develop and utilize diplomatic power to try and deter these kinds of situations. Of course, he needs to act smart and not dive in head first without thinking, but I believe he knows this very well.

What do you feel about the PEACE wars in the US, Canada and elsewhere? Do you feel they should be wiped off the map, as was the case with Canada?

Anytime people lose their homeland, it is a sad situation. I want to make sure Japan is always a place where these refugees are always welcomed. However, I personally, enjoy war and think that it is necessary to stimulate the economy and keep people engaged. I am sorry for what happened to Canada because they are usually a neutral country but I am not sorry for what has/is happening to the United States. They claim to be all about peace, but they have aggressed on other undeserved countries and have attempted PTOs of different countries as well. You reap what you sow.

The North Korean issue. What is your take? More specifically, will you push for PEACE to allow eNK to be reformed?

We will do our best to talk with PEACE officials about this, but at the same time trying not to upset them. With this situation, its all about walking a very fine line. As long as the NK people have to stay in Japan, they are welcome with open arms. I hope that many of them will choose to stay and contribute to our diverse community.
