A Chance To Be Better

Day 1,993, 02:33 Published in USA USA by Azazel Romanov

I feel obligated to write something before I might become trapped by my job as Secretary of State (or MoFA to the rest of the world). I also have to do a name-drop, because my writing today has been inspired by another article, which would be Secretary of Media successor and prolific writer Paul Proteus's article. This was some excellent writing. In this article he debates about the benefits and consequences of the idea of "having fun" on country priorities and well-being. Paul and I have been friends for some time, so it shouldn't be surprising when I say I agreed with most of the points that he made in the article. There should definitely be a balance maintained between doing what is right and doing what is fun, and often we get lucky and the two are actually the same action. Like Paul, I'm not a military guy. I join MUs based on the community I'm in, which explains my current location in SHIELD with all my Feds. I get my fun in this game by writing, investigating, and talking to people as much as I can. I've always been one to believe that the pen is mightier than the sword, and even in a game where putting up millions in damage is common, this still can hold true.

This is especially the case as we go into this next month. Despite the controversy over US-AIM's first operation against Spain, I do think there is a lot we mutually desire to accomplish. Mistakes are often made in this game, and they shouldn't always lead to a Cold War. Those in US-AIM are right that they shouldn't have to seek permission from the government to act, and the government lacks authority to order US-AIM; however, they both have a responsibility to their country to seek what is mutually beneficial. We have the ability to create a system that satisfies all parties and allows the government and US-AIM to make decisions that do not harm each other's goals. We have too much in common to burn the bridge while we are building it. This month we have amazing opportunities abroad and at home, and we should not let another internal fight distract us or disconnect us from this chance.

To sum up what I expected to be a slightly longer article, we have a lot of potential for fun, change, and improvement. We've proven before that we can work together even when we have disagreement, as can be seen by our participation, even if reluctantly, in the Unity system. I have faith in us. I might get a little quieter or more official this month, but I'll be doing all I can to serve the country's best interests, and I invite others to do the same this month. Let's make this a month we can be proud of, one that we can look back to and say that we actually made a difference here and everywhere. Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.

Summer is upon us.
