A candidate we can enthusiastically endorse

Day 700, 11:55 Published in Canada Canada by Rigour6

We at Spem Reduxit have seen the fortunes of New Brunswick low, then high, then very low, then very high, and then low again. In the present Confederation, our dear province remains an afterthought for the federal government, a place where (in some cases very high quality) candidates parachute in for the election, but then quickly leave so that they may advance themselves somewhere else.

This up-and-down is the inevitable result of our province being seen as strategically within a broader pan-Canadian view, one which accepts and values Albertan, Ontarian, and Quebec pride, but regards NB Pride as some sort of foolish quirk. How long would they allow their peoples to go without hospital care of any kind, let alone Q4 or Q5 care? Yet in all the many months we have worked in eNb, the best we've ever had is a subsistence Q1, a situation that gives us no chance for growth at all!

The founders and supporters of NB Pride have long recognized that if change is going to come, it must come from within. When we started, New Brunswick had no forestry companies, despite its high wood resources. We changed that, and then added a weapon's company and now a small housing company for good measure. This is change by NBers and for NBers.

That same can-do attitude would be an asset in our provincial representatives, not just for the benefit of eNB but for the benefit of Canada as whole. This election, we have that candidate, a man who from the very start has understood what the NB Pride movement has been about, and which has supported that movement with his own sweat, working with us to make a better eNB. When this man speaks of making eNB better, it is not empty words, it is the words of a man who has consistently walked the walk.

We wish Ash Eastwood every success in the coming campaign, and urge both our supporters and those who are simply interested in our country encouraging its best and brightest to serve nationally, to vote for him in the coming ballot. We are proud to associate our collective names and efforts with a man who has consistently advocated for a fair and compassionate eCanada, particularly for the newer players, and has been unrelenting in his support for a strong eNB within a strong and untied eCanada.

All the best, Ash.
