A Call for Logic
Adasko
I know this decision has saved your ass, however, you must consider it's fairness. It is not fair, and I see it, even as a EDEN supporter. That's why I would ask you to:
a) Sign the open letter I posted.
b) Vote the crap out of this article, shout the crap out of it. Make sure it gets to everyone that it can get to.
Just because one day rules like these might hurt us.
The Open Letter itself:
Dear Admins,
Recently it has come to everyone's attention that the rules concerning government contracts are requiring all the Congressmen signatures in order to become valid. Now this, I gather is based on the following excerpt:
"2. The contracts can be signed only by Citizens representing themselves or, if it is the case, representing the Organization, Party, Company, Country, Region or Newspaper that they lead;"
However, the meaning of representation is a very general one, and if we go really far, we might say, that every single citizen has to sign it, just to make sure his country is represented. Interpreting it as a unanimous decision by Congress, is just plainly stupid, to be blunt. The interpretation of the law is a utopian interpretation of an overzealous admin who wanted to play god. Now this is something I do not support, and this interpretation in my humble opinion is null and void on the basis of the logical rule of incerta pro nullis habentur (Things uncertain are held for nothing). This rule despite being primarily held for evidence, I do believe also should be used in this case in the interpretation of the law.
The rules concerning the contracts, are badly written, open to too many interpretations, and generally, void from my point of view, and I believe from everyone's by know. The law should not require the impossible/nearly impossible from a person, a group, or a country, and you are.
What are the alternatives? I believe every eCountry should have it's constitution, and I believe every eCountry should have a speaker elected by Congress on the forums, or if the admins would be willing to create a appropriate module, in-game. Such a Speaker would moderate, and represent Congress, thus being a person able to sign the documents, in Congress' name, however you can also just simply recognize the President as the only party needed to sign the document.
The currently set precedence makes all the treaties signed until now invalid, this is just plainly absurd. The law doesn't work backwards, however We can look forward. I hereby ask the admins to react on this situation as soon as possible, as this is an important matter.
Regards,
Adasko

The contract was violated by ePortugal when they failed to turn over the state of Maryland on the 14th day after signing. If you want to go with Logic, then ePortugal owes the eUSA 5k gold for a violation with in the first 30 days of the contract.
Of course logic fails when greed gets involved. Most of the initial postings and calls for paying the fine did NOT even come from ePortugal but from eSerbia and eHungary.
Relonian - so why did you paid like 100Gold a month when contract was broken?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Why is this an argument about a contract that was (thank you admins) never in effect?
i think the contract system needs an official module. it would be a country president option, hell you could hold an in game vote requiring 50% of congress to vote yes.
that would be true representation!
contracts could cost gold (consider it a lawyers fee for those role players out there)
the financial penalties for breaking a contract could be held in trust until the contract expires.
you could even build land swaps into the peace treaty system if you wanted to get crazy.
but i'm sure the limitations of a simple browser game keep alot of these ideas off the drawing board.
It is strange... Contract was valid while it was 100 gold per month, but, it is void when it includes punishment for breaking it...
p.s. I don't know if ePortugal broke that contract too...
I believe that in this discussion shouldn't be arguments like:"They broke it too!" because this issue is much more substantial then that.
"All contracts involving countries are now void. Feel free to break them" !

No, it's just that Eden/America aren't greedy little children.

Panda Rawr!
Lol people got owned by the contracts 😛
OK this is simply stupid, I want, no I need to hear detailed explanation of this precedent in the next Insider. This situation right now is equivalent of induced anarchy. There is no more rule of law in international affairs, only the rule of might. As things stand now, not one contract is considered valid...
eGods you really F-up your world now.
"signed by ALL congressmen" WTF ... in most countries IRL "50% plus one" is major rule to accept whatever in congress/parliament and 2/3 or 3/4 majority is needed to change constitution ...

LEARN HOW TO FIGHT!
I'd love the contract enforced. It means ePortugal owes the eUSA 5000 gold.
ePortugal set up an improper contract.
ePortugal violated the contract first. By the standards they claim the eUSA broke the contract means they owe the eUSA.
So yes admins, please enforce the contract so the eUSA can get 5000 gold from ePortugal.
Admins destroyed the so called "gentleman agreement", the international law and contract of alliences. This are all nothing from now.
It is sad decision 🙁

It seems like ADMIN wants to decide every case by themselves. They want to take the burden and FLAME for themselves. By this move every contract is INVALID. Feel free to break them. You will get justice by admin now, and it doesn't matter what your countries agreed on, it doesn't matter what your PRESIDENTs signed.
Xavinyo:
Admins never considered precedents, remember what happened at the end of the battles. So don't be surprised when they won't use the same logic when another contract will be broken in the future.
Zabalint
Anyway with admin's logic it's impossible to sign a contract between two countries.

Ivan that's basically the admins saying we don't like you making contracts so we aren't gonna do a thing to enforce them
