6 Small things that will make eRepublik better for all (or me)!

Day 1,978, 09:38 Published in United Kingdom Poland by Ando Calrissian

Dear Lovers and Fighters,

Anyone who has played this game for as long as it takes to register for it should have realized that it's a long, long way from the perfect experience. Problems abound! - and whilst some of these problems are deeply endemic and solving them would require the redesigning of entire modules, there are many smaller and insignificant things that niggle at my enjoyment of the game and that I feel could easily be amended.

So, the following is a list of five of the most basic things could be done to improve the eRepublik experience. It's obviously not an exhaustive list and I would love to hear about all the small things that vex you about the game. That's what the comments bit is for, innit!

6. Allow donations of WRM and FRM between players, and;
5. Enable filtering of sellers on the marketplace

For reasons that I have never quite been able to comprehend, raw material cannot be transferred directly between two players. It seems strange to me. Considering the high volume of raw material produced per day and with some older players often listing thousands of units at a time, it can be quite difficult for players to shift a surplus without sacrificing any reasonable profit.

Allowing direct trades might also encourage a new style of group-play and interaction, as individuals seek reciprocal trade agreements. You take my metal; I take your corn. You scratch my back; I shove some iron in your gob. The marketplace will not die because there will always be surplus raw material (on top of other products), and the tax-man will not mind because raw material is so lightly taxed (if taxed at all) in most nations.

Being able to filter the marketplace would just be a nice time-saving tool for those who like to help out their fellow party or MU members.

4. Allow players to hide the BAZOOKA! box

Simple. Just add one of these:

To this:

Having played this game for more than a year, I have grown very familiar with the existence of bazookas and do not need constantly reminding about them.

...and talking about 'zookas...

3. Link bazooka damage to players’ Divisions

I’m certain there are some in the lower Divisions who will find this hard to believe - but a lot of older/stronger players consider bazookas as just a little bit more effective than trying to stop tanks by hurling kittens at them. But only just. Anyone whose hit exceeds 10k (a feat which is becoming much more common since the inclusion of Q4 training and those gloriously overpowered Q7 tanks) will discover that those mismatched stocks and rockets suddenly amount to nothing more than assorted lumps of Plato’s turd.

Once this point is reached, the only real use for bazookas is when there is a desire to complete Daily Orders or Mercenary achievements using minimal energy. To me this just seems a gross underuse of an otherwise enjoyable eRepublik tool that brings an extra element to battles in lower divisions.

2. Encourage more players to join ESO!

<_< SURPRISE RECRUITMENT PIECE! Trololololololololol! >_>

Are you new to this game and feeling a little bit lost or unsupported?

Are you an older player who feels unhappy with the divisive nature of the political game?

Are you Talon Karrde and in need of a good moustache grooming?

Well, my friends, the solution to all these ailments is quite simple: join ESO today!

ESO is a community of players that is dedicated more to the progression of its members than it is to the often petty competitiveness of the political scene. Usually touted as a “party of individuals”, ESO has a strong history of backing intelligent and generous individuals as they traverse all stages of the game.

With this in mind, we are now looking for a new generation of likeminded players to join the community and to grow with us. Political aptitude is always welcomed and there will never be a shortage of opportunities with the party to exercise political ambition, but what is really valued is a willingness to contribute to a friendly community and the ability to enjoy eRepublik without always feeling the need to be drawn into the tiresome and malicious squabbles of other parties.

If you would like to know more about the party, please do not hesitate to message me or reply in the comments. Alternatively, you are welcome to join us on IRC in #eso or on the official UK forums (http://forums.erepublik.co.uk).

Bwahaha! Nobody expects the surprise recruitment piece!

Now, onto the last item on the list:

1. Allow Commanders, Captains and Party Presidents to message their members easily and without the need for friending

I really, really don’t understand why this isn’t already possible. The need for it is so bleedin’ obvious that I’m even going to try to justify its inclusion in this list. So, let's leave it there and enjoy this newspaper story I took a picture of last year:

Anyway, I hope this is not the most tedious thing you've read this year. Please vote. Even better, please comment. Even, even better, join ESO.

Even, even, even better, give me all your stuff, quit the game and let's go for a pint and talk about things that matter. Like football. And marzipan.

Love,
Ando

xoxo

PS: Obligatory Wayne reference for Wayne-vote.

PPS: Demonstrating once again that the Royal Family are superior intellectual beings, HM King Woldy has just suggested the idea of being able to rename regiments in-game, instead of all MUs being stuck with the prosaic "regiment 1", "regiment 2" system. I am adding this here myself because one such as I would never expect royalty to deign to read an article written by such a pauper as me. 🙁
