I. Congress Votes to Increase Taxes Again!

Today, Congress began voting on another tax increase. The Value Added Tax for Food will change from 7% to 10%, a 3% increase. Congress discussed increasing the tax after some revealing data demonstrated that the eUS had significantly less revenue than other major eCountries. This is reinforced by the inability for the eUS to make 100,000 USD a day, as shown by many of this week’s donations to the Congressional Budget Office falling below even 90,000 USD. Congress has set a goal of 99,999 USD per day, but has not found the best way to reach it yet.

II. Talks on Budget Stall

In a related story, Congress has yet to solidify a budget for August despite being halfway through the session. Part of the problem lies with the tax increases under performing. Congressman [X] has requested data regarding the revenue of the eUS.

According to the eUS Constitution:
4.1 Congressional Budget Process

4.11 Budget Requirement:
In accordance with section II of the eUS Constitution, Congressional Principles, which grants Congress authority and responsibility over allocation of tax revenue. Congress will, during its monthly term of office, approve a Budget to be submitted to the Directors of the Congressional Budget Office detailing the weekly budget of any organizations receiving funds from the Congressional Budget Office. The following guidelines concerning the budget exist:

- Congress must vote and approve a Budget Proposal each term, even if that vote is only to reaffirm the current budget.
- The Budget shall be in a format that allows the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to determine which line holders get money and how much they are authorized
- The Budget becomes effective in the next full week after adoption
- The Budget remains in effect until superseded by another Congressional Budget.

Congress has not set a deadline for the budget, which isn’t required by the Constitution. With half of the sessions already finished, Congress may reaffirm July’s budget, with the exception of removing Arm America’s funding and redistributing those funds to other programs. However, some debate lingers on how much should be spent and how much should be saved.

III. Today’s Proposals

1. Mutual Protection Pact with Uruguay . Vote Yes.
2. Tax Change: Food, Value Added Tax
3. Donate 63,000 USD to the Congressional Budget Office . Proposed by Bia Pandora.
