Custer Said a Thing
George Armstrong Custer
and it's worth more people seeing.
Dateline: Friday, February 9 (Day 5925 )
Location:The OhFU Home
While the recent CP election results were simmering, I dropped by The Home on Discord to check in, kinda give my report...
our Lounge is open to all, and we get all kinds of neat visitors. I wasn't expecting the President. I also didn't expect what was about to fall off my fingertips.
so that brings me to this, and I now bring it to you...
almost half of the voters being dissatisfied with the status quo, for a good variety of reasons.. but closely divided.. can everyone come together and develop a united front and win next time?
...
yep, that's about it.
my humble thanks to the SFP and everyone who voted to be heard.

The President asked, I answered.
Custer, you got through the piece with only a Ohfu! You're slowing down man but good to see you writing.
Part of the problem as I see it is "The Establishment", like the game and those in it, is shrinking. Not that many go away for good, but some are less involved. I think most of the recent tussle probably came about as simply overlooking the day to day operations of a boring program. Keeping things up to date, being open and transparent fell by the wayside not out of ill intent as much as mere inactivity. I will add the congress itself is complicit in this as well, they failed for months and months if not years to actually do more than a precursory oversight/budgetary function each month. At one point months went buy with no updates on reserves, etc.
We in many ways need everyone now to play some role, or roles are going to be left to falter. Recently, if only temporarily, rotations through roles by yourself and some in the BSP did occur. It spread the functions out some and were positive and I think community building.
I fear that the recent hostilities were just the opening of old fissures. Accountability of government, charges of favoritism in government largess, etc. are not new.
I think though there could have been a legitimate opportunity missed here, maybe two of them; 1) It is probably time to consider the efficacy of weapons programs vs just plain cash payments. This should be considered both from the point of view of impact and workability in game and the ability to run the program efficiently and transparently. There can be an actual conversation here, but things seemed to just have devolved into the same old food fight before any thoughtful discussion on these legitimate concerns could be had. I think there is common ground that could be had here. And, 2) It may be that it is time to draw in someone else, maybe even a newer player, to that inner circle to help out maintaining some of these programs as I think we all would like to see them run. There was a time that energetic folks were brought onboard in this way. I fear that effort is lacking these days as well.
Still, good to see you writing, even if a little less colorfully than had been at times. Keep up the fight!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
seriously, I'm honored to have my old JCS Commander take the time to comment here.
I saw your reply earlier and waited to see if it brought a barrage of food flying my way, it actually brought a few friend requests. Maybe things do get better thru time.
jadiv pretty much hit the nail on the head and fully agree with his statements.
We have all become complacent about our whole community. Pulling fresh blood into positions is critical and I think those players are out there that can fufill these roles. But they need to be drawn into the circle.
The total lack of communication and media by those in the top government positions is quite disturbing. You have to engage people to get them interested into getting involved. I have brought this up with different administrations in the past, but it always falls of deaf ears.
For example I am willing to bet big money, lol, that only a tiny percentage of fighters/players have any understanding of the Real Wars we are fighting. There objectives are unknown. It is just an endless loop of battles that have little to no meaning too most.
I mean look at the very low turnout for real battles.Pretty dismal. A narrative via media needs to be in place. But whatever, I do not have any expectations of that changing. I am used to having low expectations.
I am not talking directly about this administration it is pretty much across the board. Because if we are to be honest, every administration is the exactly the same as the one before it. Just some chairs suffled around an empty room.
I appreciate what every CP has done. It must be very time consuming just to keep the TWs on scheduale, and I thank them all for their commitment to that area of the game.
Lastly the Alliance set up is beyond stale. It is a dead, rotting corpse stinking up the game. A major change is needed to make this game more interesting. The Code/Asteria War is so 2018. For me personally I have no interest, nor desire to fight for Serbian interests or goals. They are an alliance mate where half their population hate Americans in real life and voice it in game.
Fuk them.
But I rambled on long enough and I am sure few people care what I think.
Do have a nice night/day.
And enjoy a song on me, lol

Totally agree with your points!
Also i’m totally agree on Serbia’s point. And i see no reason fighting for them. In-fact today i fought for hungary against them to show hungary that there is possibility and they can have new allies if they decided to leave CODE!
Asteria won the Battle and The War. Dominated. Congratulations. But now we need new dynamics because Asteria can’t keep fighting vs “NOTHING”.
