Foreign Policy - Day 3,188 - 12 Aug 2016

Hello fellow citizens of the e-world. First of all I would like to start my article announcing my new project. Just because I am bored of this game I decided to write articles about foreign policy of the countries in this game. Also I will make interviews with SG's of alliances, MoFA's and CP's of countries. Beyond from that some experienced players will be Foreign Policy's guest columnists. I hope people will enjoy our articles and let's hope this project will cause people to discuss diplomacy.

In the first years of eRepublik these two nations were allies to each other. They were founding members of the Peace Global Community. After Peace GC's dissolve 15 member founded Phoenix which included Turkey and Bulgaria. But after that time Bulgaria and Turkey had several wars with each other and they have never been in the same alliance till then. When Sirius and Aurora coalition were on place this was the only time Turkey and Bulgaria had been so close since the Phoenix alliance. There was several attempts from both sides to improve the relations but the past conflicts between these two countries was an obstacle to do so. Even if Turkey and Bulgaria were in the same coalition their relations were not improving very much.

In 2014 when Georgia was added in the game the rubber bonus in Abkhazia made the strong countries to focus on that region. Bulgarians decided to attack Georgia and claim that bonus region. In the meantime Turkey's diplomatic plans was to protect their newborn neighbors and have a good relations with them. Turkish players decided to help Georgia in order to liberate her regions which was successful. This act of Turkey was enough to raise the tension with Bulgaria but Turkey was claiming that they were defending their neighbor country. After Georgia liberating their regions the Georgian government and Turkish government will decide to sign rental agreement for Abkhazia region and Turkey had official rights to control the region and in the meantime Turkey was protecting Georgia.

For a long period of time Turkey and Bulgaria was neutral to each other because they had the same goals, to fight against Asteria. During the Sirius-Aurora coalition they took place in some operations. But there was always a little tension between them which sometimes they accused each other not attacking the enemy. Turkey's long-term peace policy with the neighbors was the root of this argument. When Bulgaria was accusing Turkey not attacking and having a secret NAP with Greece, Turkey was accusing Bulgaria with not engaging with Serbia.

The neutral status of these two countries was still in place till the Bulgarian-Greek War. When Greece decided to leave Asteria at the same time they decided to make MPP with some of "old" friends. After some time Greece was at war with Republic of Macedonia (FYROM)* and Bulgaria decided to participate the war and help their long time allies. Turkish government were giving orders against Bulgaria so this wrecked the relations of these two countries and they finally became enemies when Bulgaria decided to help Iran against Turkey.

Relations between Turkey and Bulgaria were never at good level. Even the past conflicts were years ago somehow they never managed to solve their differences and two countries never trusted each other. Even their common allies these two countries were always distant to each other and it is no surprise that this war is taking place. In my opinion it was clear that there will be a war between Turkey and Bulgaria since Bulgaria was isolated from Adriatica and Syndicate. Wars never last forever in this game so we will observe how this war will continue and how it will end. But I am sure who will win, because he always wins when there is a war; Plato 😛 Thanks for reading...

*I used the official name of Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) in the eRepublik to prevent any harms to readers.

Next: Guest columnists Bogi, Lord Doel and Sebastian Vettell will write about latest changes in the e-world diplomacy! How Adriatica-Syndicate coalition affected the e-world diplomacy? What was the mistakes of Asteria, Adriatica and Syndicate? All answers on our next article.
