[Pacifica] Around the world

Day 2,942, 06:38 Published in USA USA by Pacifica HQ

It's been a long time without a word from the alliance HQ. This doesn't mean the member states have been idle - quite the contrary. During the last months Pacifica has conquered, Pacifica has liberated and Pacifica has flown. The conflicts of the Pacifican nations can be divided into two fronts: The Pacific and The North. Let's inspect the endeavours of the member states in a bit more detail, shall we.

Trouble in the North, the Finno-Russian struggle for the liberation of Scandinavia

A rather peaceful November was interrupted and rocked by South American aggression in Norway. A military unit from Chile organised a coup d'etat in Norway - ultimately succeeding in taking over the nation. Members of Chilean government could be seen fighting for the coup repeatedly - even though the govenment didn't publicly support the endeavour. The intervention was followed by a pair of airstrikes, conducted by Paraguay and Bolivia respectively. The development was keenly followed by Pacifica, as Norway borders both Russia and Finland. A tad earlier Albania had succesfully landed in Danish-occupied Sweden - establishing a secure base there to operate further.

Even though the series of events looked like a coordinated operation, when confronting the Chileans in charge of Norway, 'fun' and 'looking for new opportunities' was the stated reason for the coup. Further more it was mentioned the Chileans had no prior intel about the upcoming Paraguayan and Bolivian airstrikes - in fact the two aforementioned nations seem to have planned it together before the coup.

A Scandinavian military council discussing the plans

The aggression in Norway was from the start seen as an aggression on whole Fennoscandia and beyond - foreign powers in the region threatened to undermind the stability and well-being of the whole north. Immediately, a coordination channel was established between the Nordic nations, Russia, Latvia and Orion & Pacifica leadership. With careful coordination and unconditional support by our allies it was ultimately possible to expel the South Americans from Scandinavia, even in the face of continuous evasion of straight war with Pacifican nations. Swedish and Norwegian forces too played a central part in planning of the strategical resistance wars and measures to achieve our objectives. The support of Paraguay and Bolivia has further decreased due to the declaration of war by Chile to the United States - binding their damage away from the North.

As the smaller nations of South America have succesfully been expelled, the Chileans are still in control of Norway. Stay tuned for change in that - the work is not done.

At this point we'd want to publicly thank every friend and ally who helped to clear things in the North. Your major help was valuable.

Pacifica in the Pacific

Pacifica got deeper involved in the Southern front as the Philippines waged war against The Pacifican member Colombia. As things went quite rapidly downhill, Latvia decided to help a member out by succesfully landing an airstrike to Venezuela - Colombian neighbor too fighting against Pacifica. The state of things has since developed for the better, currently Latvia occupies most of Venezuela while Colombia has been able to liberate a number of regions from the Philippine occupation. Member nation Taiwan also helped and fought against Philippines in the Asian theater. Later they signed a non-aggression pact with the Philippines, and are currently holding colonies in the Korean peninsula and in Japan, too. USA then, is involved in a war against Chile - also in the Pacific Ocean, our contributor reports:

"Yesterday saw a great battle between the USA and Chile in the Lesser Sunda Islands. The US and Chile have both been in the Pacific for a number of months, in one capacity or another. Chile has been occupying New Zealand and Australia while the US has been wiping Indonesia. About a week ago things heated up when Chile decided to NE the United States - as mentioned above. The US countered with their own NE and the WAR was begun.

Chile would like to help their old friend Indonesia to regain some of her regions, but could have at least notified the US of her intentions first. The US and Chile have had mixed relations over the years, so this move comes as no surprise. However, it still would have been mutually beneficial to discuss the release of some Indonesian regions rather than jump right into all-out war.

So, here we are, The US and Chile both secured battles to begin the war. Chile then won battles in Papua and Maluku Islands. The United States has stood up to Chile in the Lesser Sunda Islands and looks to gain the initiative. The US has been helped by numerous allies, not the least of which are Finland and Russia, specifically. While somewhat quiet, the Pacifica alliance is strong and always ready to spring into action."
