Interviews MoFA / MoE / MoD (eUNL)

Day 2,798, 03:31 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by kivmi

Hey Folks,

Second part of the interviews.

NoTie112 (Minister of Foreign Affairs / eNetherlands)

Is eNetherlands planning to develop international cooperation in the sphere of economy resources?

The economic module in eRep is a joke, so there's barely any need for cooperation or strategy in general. The only useful cooperation I can think of is sending people with factories to countries with high bonuses, and we already doing that for years.

How should eNetherlands have respond in future civil wars in countries members of Nebula? Should eNetherlands be backing the democracy more robustly against the future dictatorships of Nebula’s eCountries? If it’s too late to do so now because you believe the democracy have been overtaken by dictators is there a point where you would have supported getting fully behind the democracy? And if you believe the eNetherlands should not support either side, is there any role the eNetherlands should be playing in those conflicts?

The political module in eRep is a joke as well, even more since the introduction of the Dictatorship mechanic, which forces every small nation to implement a ''safe'' Dictatorship to maintain the former democracy. As for Nebula, consisting of small nations, it makes no sense to ''defend democracy''. Of course, whenever there is a dangerous Liberation war / Coup going on, we (and almost any other nation in the world with integrity) will help defeat those elements.

What can we learn from countries with a dictatorship about how to balance our values and our interests when people in authoritarian regimes rise up to demand freedom?

I think you're troubled by the concept of Dictatorship, which is far from the same compared to real life. The only authoritarian regimes in eRepublik are either by foreigners implementing rule in a non-native country, be it by a political take over or a military take over. The only way for smaller nations like ourselves it to have an appointed Dictator, no denying in that possible.

Do you think it's important for a country to have a strong military? Why or why not?

Of course, as the military module is the only thing that actually matters in the game. How could one now want a strong military in this game?

What is your vision for the eNetherlands future relationship with Europe?

The vision of the eNetherlands is not limited to just Europe. We have allies all over the world, not limited to just Europe. The world is relatively small, even more so than in real life. As to give you any meaningful answer, our position in Europe is challenging. We are encircled by nations who at least have a distrust in us (Germany) or are bluntly on the ''other side'' (Belgium, UK). Despite that, I'd say our current position is relatively secure.

Gwom (Minister of Education)

Do you think this “University” project is a good idea when the majority of eDutch citizens already know about game mechanics and the population is not growing?

At the beginning of this term, we already discussed about the university. The problem you describe is exactly the problem we encountered. The time to set up the project is huge, but the rewards are minimal. This is all I can say about it now, there will be an article soon explaining more.

How does “education” need to change to accommodate everyone these days?

There are plenty tutorials and educative articles. And recently they all have been collected. But the problem is that many new players stop playing in the first week. The focus of Education is now mainly making guides and teaching the new players, but I think that isn't enough. The Ministry of Education/Information/Coaching should also try to keep those new players active by encouraging them to get involved in politics, or hosting fun contests/events.

Does quality education lead to more experience societies? Why?

Yes it does. We tell the people what they should do, and what mistakes they must avoid. Thanks to Education projects in the past the eDutch fight more efficiently, and the spend their gold more wisely. We also educated people who are now very well known for their political or journalistic career. So education can make or break a country. With it the country develops a tight and efficient community, and without it the country just exists of individuals who only fight for themselves.

In your opinion, how much should governments contribute to university education?

As said in my answer to question one, the University project is very prestigious, but the rewards are minimal. It was a great idea but we probably will shut it down (oops, said to much did I? 😃).

What type of information--if any--do you think a government should keep from its citizens?

Some topics concerning foreign affairs are best if they kept secret, because they can involve plans that shouldn't leak out to foreign powers. I personally think that no information should be kept secret from OUR citizens. But the problem with eRepblik is that foreign powers can read national newspapers to. So it is impossible to keep that information to our citizens only.

Jordic69 (Minister of Defense)

Do you have an active security clearance?

I have access to all the information that is relevant to my position, if we the mofa is working in a new MPP (for example) I know it, in that way I can set them as prio. If we are going to attack or help someone, I must know it. So, yes, I have access to the info.

You are working for a president who has very strong foreign policy goals, who wanted to get the eNetherlands in Nebula, who wants to get eNetherlands fully free as soon as possible. Has it been challenging sitting where you sit, to take those broad political goals and turn them into workable military solutions that your people can enact?

Sure it was, we haven't been in direct wars but we have adapted our prios and goals to the current geopolitical situation, helping as much as possible our new friends and allies and trying to achieve a better situation in our area, that as you may have noticed, it has been very chaotic this month.

Did you ever have a moment in the last couple of weeks of saying to someone at the government, "Wait a minute, I understand he's the President/Dictator/MoFA/Governor/Prime Minister, but hold on, you're going too far here"?

No. We've been working and talking about everything all together, and discussing things, of course we don't agree in everything, that's the good part of having a good gov, people has his own ideas. But everyone have been polite and after talking about it and analyzing pros and cons we have always found the good way to follow.

Were you listened to by the current government?

Sure. If i weren't listened or the CP didn't want me there, i just wouldn't be here.

When you leave this office, is there a single piece of advice you'd give to the next Minister?

I can't give an advice without knowing to whom i am talking. But an important thing every minister must have in mind is communication. Communication with the gov, with allies and with the people. Communication is the key to have an efficient country.

Aaaseilern.
