[PN] Interview with... Paul Tyndale

Day 2,774, 03:36 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Pannonian Nomad

Hi everyone. I publish this weeks interview a little bit earlier than usual, I wouldn't be able to do it during the weekend.

For my next interview I have chosen, Paul Tyndale.

1. Tell us a few words about your real life self.

- Well, there's not a great deal to say really - I'm 42, single and living in Paignton, Devon. I work part-time as a cleaner.

2. About eRepublik Paul Tyndale.

- I started in November 2009 when erepublik was arguably at it's zenith. I never really got into the game properly and when the turn based combat was introduced as part of the eRepublik Rising I left the game.

18 months or so later I rejoined to see a drastically reduced player base, I moved into a long period of basic '2 clicking' and some minimal fighting. For just over a year now I have been more active as a member of Unity and then TUP.

3. How do you see your future in eRepublik, any CP ambitions? (You recently moved to Poland, why is that?)

- CP - definitely not. I've never considered myself CP material. I've recently taken up a long term offer of Polish Citizenship - I felt I had gone stale and needed a change, plus the amount I have actually achieved compared to the hours I have spent on eRepublik in recent months was not sustainable, so I am gradually reducing my involvement further.

4. eUK's future? (Any suggestions to the current and future governments?)

- Obviously the eUK has suffered a setback because of the wipe by Argentina, but long term I think the eUK needs something like membership of an Alliance to give it something else to work with and for. We've been hearing for many months about Alliance reorganisation but nothing seems to be happening - it's got boring.

5. eRepublik's future? (What would you change?)

Despite all the changes that have been made, eRepublik still has pulling power. I would like to see a return to varied weekly challenges - so that each week there is something different on offer. Also a return of some of the other reward events that used to come along regularly - though it always annoyed me when you got to the last one and it was 'win 1 battle hero medal' - no chance 🙁

We also desperately need some sort of changes to the military divisions. I don't see how it's fair to have players in Div 1 with 104k strength - http://www.erepublik.com/en/citizen/profile/5783156 and players in Div 4 with only 7k strength - http://www.erepublik.com/en/citizen/profile/4794275 Common sense tells you your division should be based on your strength primarily - not your XP? If you want to place players by their XP then make their XP the dominant factor on the battlefield not strength.

6. Who is your favourite person in eRepublik and why?

- I think it has to be our beloved and undisputed King - Mr Woldy. Although I was not involved when he was a multi term CP, his elevation to the position of King and his actions since have endeared him to the majority - he is a constant, a point of reference for an ever changing community.

7. Any person you dislike and why?

- I wouldn't necessarily pick out any individual but more a type - those that believe they have a sense of entitlement and that go out to destroy what others have built simply to get their own way. People that trample over others to get what they want rather than work with people to achieve something better for everyone.

8. A few words about your military history and current military unit..

- My first real military activity that I remember was in Liberty under Max Blue. I then joined Unity and TUP Family. I've recently joined Piran in his new MU - Scorpions, where I'm hoping to concentrate on the military side more and leave the politics behind for a while.

9. A few words about your political history. (As a longtime member of TUP, what do you say, why should people join TUP?)

- I wasn't in TUP that long - less than a year. What TUP lacks is both unity and Unity, it needs more members who share a common vision for both the Party and the eUK. Sadly I wasn't able to achieve any of this - I'm not great at communication or writing articles and these are 2 of the most important things in Politics.

10. Do you lift?

- Um - well I've read previous responses to this question and I still don't understand?

11. Your message to the community.

- The eUK has a good base community at present, small and friendly, but it would be good if that could grow. the eUK needs to encourage more people to use irc - to build the community across party and military lines. The lack of irc activity is particularly a problem I find with TUP and UKPP. I'm sure it's no coincidence that UKRP's current supremacy in eUK is matched by their presence on irc!
