Things Change
Jude Connors
Greetings and Salutations, My Fellow eAmericans
Nearly a year ago (almost to the day), I release what was one of my most controversial articles about the state of the eUSA community. In it was a paragraph that today is one of the hot button conversations in the Public Congressional Proceedings. From the simple cut/poaste discussion about the monthly budget, a new topic arose, the Merit of Having an State MU.
- Jude Connors - Day 2369 - The ABCs of the American Bourgeois Class -
A year ago in the aforementioned article, the USAF was an entirely different monster. It was consistently ranked in first place in damage, taking the top spot for months before finally being left behind by some PMUs in recent months. It's uncanny to see how much of a nosedive the official government military unit has taken, and it is a bit saddening. But in a game where changes affect the game play as drastically as they do here in eRepublik, it isn't surprising. This is just another indication that proves that "things have changed".
- Molly Emma - Day 2754
Therein lies the problem, people... this isn't 2009.
The USAF was created after the former "official" military defected and became a private military unit. the eUSA believed it needed an MU that directly received its orders from the DoD/CP. With that, various branches of the Armed Forces were created, and another private MU, Ultramarines, joined the USAF and became a branch. For a period of time, even SealTeam6 - another private MU - joined the USAF as a branch. Everything was working well.
Each branch had its own persona. Each branch had its own culture. Each branch was held dear to its members in some way or another. But Plato again changed the game was played yet again and change in the structure of the Armed Forces was inevitable. After a long, drawn out and sloppy restructuring, all of the branches were merged into the sole United States Armed Forces military unit. It is then that things got hairy for our esteemed military.
With no sense of unity or culture to hold together the troops, many deserted the military. Scores of D3 and D4 fighters left for large private military units like Easy Company and War Inc. Others went to smaller PMUs like Bear Cavalry and S.H.I.E.L.D. The mass exodus of the official military has left the USAF a tattered shell of what it used to be. Today, it struggles to maintain an averages of about 15,000,000,000 in damage and is no longer any viable competition to units like EZC and War Inc. Once the biggest damage makers in the eUSA, it now struggles with units like VMA-214 The Black Sheep to maintain third place.
- President Trekker Tlumac - Day 2753
The discussion will be ongoing by the eAmerican Congress with absolutely nothing accomplished. If there is one thing Congress is good at doing, it's accomplishing nothing. But President Trekker is right, it is indeed time to do something. Here's some ideas, some are mine; others aren't:
1. Mothball the USAF. Use the Defense budget to add more to the Reserves. This option will, of course, be the most controversial and will eventually lead to another pointless Congressional discussion about taxes that will end the usual way - with nothing done by Congress.
2. Double the Budget and Move to a CO-based pay/performance. Molly Emma laid this out in the Budget Discussion. It is a decent plan and probably the best option to "save" the USAF.
3. Mothball the USAF and use the Defense budget to reopen the OMS - Office of Militia Support. This program used to give money directly to private MUs that fought according to the priorities of the Department of Defense/Country President - which is ironically the whole intent of the USAF in the first place. Worried about misuse by PMUs? Assign one person who answers directly to the President/DoD/etc. to all PMUs receiving OMS (public) monies.
This option can also be used to cut the defense budget, still giving additional support to the PMUs that are already carrying the majority of the load of the defense/offense of the eUSA. The other money leftover from the Defense budget can go to the reopening of the Arm America initiative - which put Q7 weapons in the hands of ALL Americans for fights or even go to place COs in more important battles and campaigns.
Personally, I like my idea - the third one - best. But voice your opinion, everyone can post to the Public Congress forums, although they must wait for approval by the moderators. Visit now and SPEAK YOUR MIND!

THINGS CHANGE

How dare you make sense of this entire situation. BLACKLIST BLACKLIST BLACKLIST!
It's time for change.
People are afraid of change.
Time for us to lead them through the change and into the light 🙂
Nicely stated. There are, of course, other options available, but returning USAF to what it once was is not one of them. The bottom line is, things DO change, things HAVE changed, and we have to adapt to those changes or get left behind.
I love it good sir!
Good to see you're finally getting up to speed, Jude, adapt or die. MaryamQ is right though, your options are too limitied.
It's nice to see you all catching up to what I said a year ago - 🙂
"Personally, I like my idea - the third one - best. But voice your opinion, everyone can post to the Public Congress forums, although they must wait for approval by the moderators. Visit now and SPEAK YOUR MIND! "
That opens it up for more options, no?
Great. you say good ideas of socialism.
If you want, you can read my interview with Jude Connors (http://www.erepublik.com/fr/article/international-fight-for-socialism-interview-of-jude-connors--2529000/1/20)
Proletarians of all countries, UNITE !
o/
and den....
NO AND DEN!
Option 4. Make USAF the best place for new players. Support them and train them. Kick experienced players out unless they are actively helping to train/mentor. Quit trying to make USAF compete and own it as a government program for those who need help.
P.S. I do not believe OMS-type solutions can/should work, but I do think ArmAmerica is an effective program in times of need/war.
This is another reason you should run for CP
I completely agree with my old friend Cubby:
"Option 4. Make USAF the best place for new players. Support them and train them. Kick experienced players out unless they are actively helping to train/mentor. Quit trying to make USAF compete and own it as a government program for those who need help.

I will add that it is NOT a coincidence that members of under-performing small, often political PMUs, with their own retention and other problems always discuss the return of the OMS when knocking the USAF.
Do you think that there may be a financial motive behind saying, we think the USAF sucks, and the big successful MUs don't need money, so give US the USAF money?????
The OMS system is OVER, move on, nothing to see here.
LOL.
Troll another article. Bear Cavalry does what it wants.
Need us to vote for you for USWP PP again?
Yes, and Bear Cavalry has an agenda and is playing it out here.
If you knew half of what you think you know, you'd be a great player.
Bear Cavalry would never be approved for OMS money today or tomorrow, just as we weren't in the past because we don't always follow DoD/NSC Orders. We are a freedom fighting / resistance war military unit.
But tanks again for showing how stupid you are. It is always nice to see.
Good article, might be good to do a follow-up with other options as they are presented, make it a one-stop shop for all the various "fix the USAF" ideas.
Am I ever glad the Civvies aren't publicly-funded.
Great...
I finally find a MU that keeps their orders updated, and everyone starts hating it.
Never even knew they get money, since I supply myself.
There's always Bear Cavalry.
In b4 a certain party now adopts all this as policy and says they supported it all along 😛
For the record USAF has dropped below 8% of national damage - a third of where they were a year ago.
Yup. It's pretty sad.
This article contains many errors.
I remember when your opinion meant something to me.
Sadly those days are long gone.
This again? F**kin eerie, dude. Seems like I never left.
Things never change.
seewhatididthere?
I'll take door number three, Bob.
Didnt read all of it, but had to tell you.
"Things have changed".. for now.
P.S. the whole top 10 of PMU's is bullshit, we all know only EZC and WI bring serious damage to the table in a consistent manner.
I hope you can turn things around. And look at that Cubby option, sounds pretty awesome, to be honest.
Great article, like always.
Thank you for your support.
