[PN] Interview with... WookieO

Day 2,753, 23:04 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Pannonian Nomad

Wyaaaaaa. Ruh ruh. Wooo hwa hwa? (According to the Star Wars Wiki I said "Hello. How are you? Nice weather, eh?" in Shyriiwook, the main language of the Wookiees) Why? Because I have interviewed a Wookie.

So, for my next interview I have chosen our Minister of Defense, WookieO.

1. Tell us a few words about your real life self. (Are you really a Wookie?)

- Hey there PN. Well I’m from London town, a vocal Leyton Orient FC fan and I write rubbish about sports for a living. I’m married to a lovely lady (Mrs Wook) who is expecting our first mini-Wook to arrive in a couple of months or so!

Oh, and of course I’m a wookie 😃

2. About eRepublik WookieO.

- No persona really, I play eRep as if it were almost real life. It is the internet though, so you have to laugh louder and take abuse more easily, otherwise the banter’ll get ya and you don’t want that...I’ve seen the charred corpses of eReppers that took it all too seriously. Not pretty.

3. How do you see your future in eRepublik? (You have almost every medal, what are your ambitions?)

- I’m not planning on going anywhere. I’ve got my hat-trick of CP terms to complete yet, plus I’m enjoying myself still, despite everything the game developers can throw at us.

I’m aiming for Level 200 and on the medal front...well, I’m never gonna get the Media Mogul one, that’s nigh on impossible these days and the Society Builder is surely only obtained by multi makers, right?

However I’ve been in the Top Fighters eight times so far in my career which means I just need another 22 top tanking days and I’ll grab that one. This might be a pipe dream though 😛

4. eUK's future? (Any suggestions to future governments?)

- The eUK will always have its ups and downs. Currently we’re on a pretty good chilled out high and this is despite the most recent theft from the treasury by Wayne and SerFartsalot.

Until there’s a change in the rules surrounding dictatorships, I see no better solution than the ‘constitutional dictator’ system we have in place right now. This month with Woldy in the button pushing chair, Fataliix and Congress have been pointing out which of those buttons to press and it’s worked really well.

There’s actually been proper discussion in Congress, we have a transparent google doc of Congress decisions and votes for the public to see and I hope this continues into next month.

Regarding future CPs I would love if it if a couple of people in particular stepped up and had a crack at the position, namely CrispyDragon and CheetahCurtis.

5. eRepublik's future?

- Since I began playing back in March 2013 people were telling me eRepublik was dead and wouldn’t last a year. That was over two years ago and although the numbers have crashed even further, there’s still a vibrant and entertaining community based around those of us left.

I played a play-by-mail football management game for many years before eRep and it evolved to include online play. I assumed it must have died by now, but I found out the other day it’s still going which astonished me. So if there’s a core of players eRep will continue in one form or another I’m sure, until the owners decide it’s simply not financially viable.

6. Who is your favourite person in eRepublik and why?

- Hmmmmmm, tricky question. I think this changes over time, but over the last few months I’ve had the good fortune to spend a lot of time chatting to Fataliix, so I’d have to send my manlove his way.

I posted it yesterday so he should get it today if he’s lucky 😛

7. Any person you dislike and why?

- I don’t think I actively dislike anyone in eRepublik, there are some I try and avoid having any contact with but I’m not gonna name any names otherwise they might start stalking me and I’ve already got a stalker.

*waves at Sambo*

8. A few words about your military unit.

- I’m in the Royal Navy these days, having previously been in Legion and then more recently the Royal Army Dental Corps. Times they do a-change and the Royal Navy has a community aspect to it that I felt I wanted to be a part of.

Also I’ve been taking secret pics of Evil Doctor from afar for months now and I just wanted to be closer to him.

9. A few words about your political history and current party. (Why should people join your party?)

- My first proper political party was the Independent Alliance under Dr Hugh Jardon, although I swiftly moved on to The Skatalites where I gained most of my early knowledge of the game from Leo Balzac, Chaz and of course Wayne.

It was there that I also won my first couple of terms in Congress too (with a little help from the UKPP) and of course my EPIC first CP medal was won as a Skatalite, beating TUPster Talon Karrde in a closely fought contest.

After the decline of Ska, I moved to my current home, the UK Reform Party...which had almost gone into hibernation as many of its older members snoozed in the party’s comfy chairs.

Since then the UKRP has seen a dramatic surge in activity, with a number of ex-UKPP members joining the ranks (that was before Alfagrem’s last credit card binge resurrected that party from its death throes) plus quite a few newer faces who saw the fun side of the game being promoted by us in Reform.

That’s why if you are looking for a political party I can heartily recommend the UKRP. There are enough old codgers like Lionbeard, Appleby, certacito, Thomas765 and TheDark plus enthusiastic younger heads like Gali, our current PP, to bring you in, show you where the whiskey’s kept and throw you a jaffa cake if you need one.

10. Do you lift?

- Only on Tuesdays in #uk.reform

11. Your message to the community.

- My message? Have fun, don’t take any of it too seriously and make sure you use your newspaper to write something...anything. If you want to get your name out there, that’s the best way...or tank as hard as FragUK...that’s another!

Thank you WookieO for your answers o7

Ruow. Hnn-rowr yrroonn nng rarrr! ("Goodbye. Long live the New Republic!" I'm sure that they meant "eRepublik".)
