A Return to an Honourable America - Glove

Day 1,687, 20:53 Published in USA USA by GloveisLove

My Fellow Americans,

We have a place, all of us, in a long story--a story we continue, but whose end we will not see. We create the plot, and it is up to us to to be successful directors. Two months ago, I returned to an America in where elections were basically landslides, with the USWP candidate winning them overwhelmingly and no realistic opposition candidate in sight. A grand majority of America was being told who to vote for. The American people were told that those in office the longest are the best because they have always been in office, clearly they have always been in office because they are the best. Well, this is simply not the case. Tenure in office means nothing, what you have done to benefit the community, how you treat your allies abroad, your ability to work with others, and what you plan to do is what matters, not how long your tenure has been. One of my favorite quotes from eRepublik is “Seriously anyone can be president, it is not as hard as people make it out to be.” And I thought about this to a great extent, how can anyone be president? Then it came to me, the author of that quote was right, think about it, do you think the first presidents of eRepublik knew what they were doing? No. But they had leadership, they were active, they were confident, and they had a vision. Never be told you cannot do something because you don’t have “experience.” This is how those in control retain control and advance themselves, while belittling you to become their subservient.

I am proud to say that there are eAmericans before me that understand that the right to express yourself in elections is a right that should not be treated so lightly. There are many amongst you thinking hard, weighing the pros and cons of each candidate, and if anything comes out of this election, I hope it is this: that you still know that you have a pulse and a voice, and it is up to you to make yourselves heard.

If you do not stand for anything, you’ll fall for anything. Who you support reflects America’s image abroad, and right now our image abroad is not good.

Some of the greatest concerns I have about these last few months is our policy in regards to foreign affairs. I discussed in detail what the NAP with Poland meant, what the NAP with Spain meant, but for those of you who did not read, I’ll give a quick summary.

The NAP with Poland was probably the worst NAP I’ve ever seen. What this NAP effectively did was: It allowed Poland to remain completely dominant in Western/Central Europe. Our allies, to my knowledge, France, Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, Germany, Croatia, Ireland, Russia, and Canada were all sold. That is nine countries, guys. Nine. The NAP affected some of these countries more than others, but the point is, the government did not bother to release details of the NAP neither to the public or our allies, the government agreed to a NAP that surrendered our allies in Europe (ie: France and Germany) under permanent occupation, and it allowed one of ONE’s strongest countries to remain unopposed with full bonuses, just so our government wouldn’t have to face the possibility of losing regions. This is cowardly, and I can only imagine what the rest of the world thinks of us now. This is not how you run foreign affairs properly, and on top of this, the lack of communication was ridiculous and a slap in the face to all our allies.

The NAP with Spain, which was the result of a previous government’s administration, was also a bad NAP in my opinion. At the time Spain was a weak nation, with little to no regions, but the NAP allowed them to regain their country and now they are a potential threat. The NAP also was a bad deal for France especially, since they now have to fear both their southern, northern, and eastern neighbor. Again, this is bad foreign affairs policy, and it disgusts me that the government is willing to sell its allies in exchange for secure bonuses.

Those bonuses are not even secure though. Who is to say Spoland will always respect the NAP? Why should they, now that they have their regions and domination of Europe? Your governments failed you in that they only thought short-term to make themselves look good.

But let me tell you, fortune favours the bold!

And I see no other candidate this race as bold as I. Evry has made it his political campaign to throw as much garbage at me as he can, without offering any plans or show of competency. His articles have basically consisted of who his supporters are and showing the world he is not above mudslinging. His argument is basically that he has been in politics so long that he deserves the position, but I am of the belief that no one is entitled to anything, you must earn it. Those who know me well know that I can be a master troll, but I am first and foremost a professional statesman, if you want my respect you must prove yourself that you don’t lower yourself to any dirty tactic that will ensure your victory. That said, I am disappointed that Civil Anarchy is dropping out of the race, because if I had to oppose any candidate, it would be Civil Anarchy, I’ve been reading his platform and he actually has ideas and can present himself in a respectful manner, he has the potential to be a good president someday, but I cannot say the same of Evry, which is unfortunate because I always thought behind that Smile avatar was a happy guy, but I guess politics reveal true faces.

All in all, I know this will be another close race. It is up to the rest of who to determine where we will stand as a nation. Every single one of you, regardless of age, strength, activity, has an impact.

I want to restore confidence in our allies that America is not a selfish ally, that we can be dependable and trustworthy, I want to make our foreign affairs policies respectable and not resort to secret deals that only favor us and screw our allies, I want to have an open and transparent administration, I want to be able to be contacted with ease and deliver a response for you promptly, I want to find ways to increase our population, whether that be by opening the door to friendly immigrants or getting new players to the game, and lastly, I want you to live again and know that this is a game, you make the plot, you provide the characters, and it is up to you that it is directed properly.

Very few things in this game are real, but the community is. There are people behind each of these computer screens, the country is only virtual, the government isn’t real, the currency isn't, the bonuses aren't. I think we need to step out of our shells and try a little harder to work with our allies, to work for them, to stand up for them, even if there are some setbacks, we should be doing more. In the end the only thing that is real is that other player, and if they know they can trust you, you'll get a big return.

This is more than just an election between Evry and Glove. This is an election between two different ideologies, two different mentalities, and two very different outlooks. You have an election between old and controlling, and new and open. I represent a legitimate threat to the old established order, and they are desperately trying everything they can to unite against me and cling onto their power. Some of them deserve to stay in power, and I have to say I have no problem working with those who opposed me if they prove to me they can fulfill their roles well and can present themselves in a respectful manner. But I will not work with those who undermine our sovereignty and only think of their own interests. I aim for unity, not for division. I represent a return to the days America could be depended upon, looked upon positively, and worked together with allies in coordinated campaigns, not just, “every country for itself.”

Lastly, down the long lane of this story yet to be written America knows that this world of ours, that we must avoid becoming a community of dreadful fear and hate, and be, instead, a proud confederation of mutual trust and respect.
