This article has 2 main focuses. The first is the message i got from the admins this morning, and te second is the current number 1 article in the eUS "the 2011 call"

Starting off with a message from the admin.
Dear citizen,
800 days passed since eRepublik faced its first World War. Let's read an interesting article about this topic, written with some old players: http://forum.erepublik.com/showthread.php/104813
As a gift, we offered you a strength bonus, to be better prepared for your military events! Check your profile and see you on the battlefield!

The ultimate best way to start off a letter to someone that hates you. give them free stuff. 😃

In the same time, due to the fact the Super Solider achievement might increase the incentive of creating fake accounts, we had to change its required number of points from 100 to 250.

kinda sad about that, but it's understandable.

The achievements will be recalculated using this new range, but already received Maps and Gold will not be removed.

and at least i get to keep my gold.

Overall, good letter from the admin. Short, but still, for once we got good reasons from the admin about why they do things. This letter was a good move in my opinion.

Next up, it's the number one article in the eUS. I'll be talking about the 2011 call. It's an article asking people to rise up against the admin. It starts off...

"Dear admins, this article is to be taken seriously. The eRepublik game is sinking and we, players, don't want to see it reach the bottom of the sea. It's still possible to save it but therefore you will have to listen to your players, for the first time.

You certainly have noticed that people complains a lot more than before about the game. You certainly noticed that the world's population is steadily decreasing. You certainly noticed that a lot is going wrong the last days. It has been 6 months that all players are complaining, suggesting, signing messages to the a'dministration, sending Contact Forms but since then it didn't changed and things are even becoming worse."

A good opener i think, but, having been doing a lot of recruiting players from other games and trying to get them to join eRep, i often think about things from a noob's perspective. Let's imagine for a second that you're new to a game and that all you see is people complaining about how bad it is and how the only thing making them stay is the other people. What would be the first thing you would do? I'd get out before i got too hooked first of all. I think that this is one of the main reasons that the population is decreasing. We complain so much about the admin that noobs think this game is worthless and move on to another game.

"You had a lot of great ideas admins, we're sure you had a lot of good intentions too. When you announced V2 most of us were really curious because it looked kinda great. But in fact, there were a lot of huge mistakes in it, it took a lot of time (2 clickers couldn't play anymore), many useless settings while many absent settings that were important, mostly very bad configuration of the modules. And I don't even mention the bugs."

I wasn't around for V1. I came in closer to the end of V2. SDince i wasn't around for any of this, i can't really say much about it. I can only take people's word for it.

"So overall it was a big fail, but even you admitted it and we appreciated that. You decided to downgraded. When we thought we would get our good old V1 back, we got a modified one with, once again a lot of great ideas but a lot of mistakes too. But then, in the next months you were very active and made one mistake after the other. That can't be called "updates", there was nothing good in it. The hospital rule, the press rule, ... Everyone was complaining, everyone was asking you to stop this madness but you didn't and day after day more people got despaired and left the game."

I can't argue with the logic there, but like i said up above, we can't give the admins full blame for this. We are part of the problem. I'm not saying that you should completely stop writing anti-admin articles, you should just tone it down a little bit. When the admins do something wrong, they can usually tell by the gold buying rates and the rates that players are asking for their accounts to be deleted, so unless it's something huge like the media thing, there's no need to clog up the media with stuff that everyone has already read. Even if it's something big like that, there's always someone like Joe Newton ready to lead the charge and get fairness back from the admin.

"So today, I decided to show you that these complaints aren't some isolated cases, it's the entire community who thinks that. We want you to save the game before the New Year.
How? Well, since you gave us missions to do (good idea btw), now we give YOU missions to do and we would really like to see at least a few being completed before the New Year.
If you put aside your ego and are ready to listen to what people want, then you'll win their confidence back and there will be less complaints, less Contact forms to answer, less pressure and more new players."

All i can say to this is good luck.

"Mission 1: abolish rule number 7 (the channel for contacting the eRepublik team is the official contact form)"
There's now different laws. These new laws say nothing about how to contact the eRepublik team.
"Mission 2: Abolish citizenship press rule"
I agree with this 100%

"Mission 3: Put a limitation on the number of health packs and instant deaths"
This could do some good, but i don't think it should be high up on their priorities list. They probably won't change it. I've played a ton of other games, and i can tell you firsthand that eRepublik is one of the best as far as giving te same treatment to both p2p and f2p players. I'm entirely happy with the way this is currently set up.
"Mission 4: Recalculate the strength"
They may be unfair to old players, but look at it from a noob's perspective. If they don't think they have a chance of ever rising up and being good at a game, they'll just hop over to another game. It basically comes down to this. If you want this game to thrive and get a steady stream of new players to replace the old ones that die off, than occasionally you need to stop thinking about how you've been cheated and just let them have their way. right after the change, my strength was about 75. n medal, and i was a complete noob. In stead of complaining, i just used the 20% invite bonus while training and i already more than doubled my strength. Patience pays off.
"Mission 5: adapt damage formula for ranks influence"
I completely agree with this. I used 10 gold to unlock the "kill 30 enemies in 24 hours" requirement for the "la resistance" mission and i got 2500 rank points. That's 10 gold for next to nothing. I believe that the admins should work on this.
"Mission 6:make treasure maps more fair"
I don't really know wether i like or hate this idea, but either way, i doubt the admins will change it.

"Mission 6: entirely change hospital system"
Might be a fun idea. I wonder how people will like it if admins do this.
"Mission 7: improve media module"
THIS IS GOLDEN. I would love to see any of these things implimented into the game. It would require little effort from the admins and it would make the lives of everyone in the media that much more easier and make us have a better opinion of you. This is the best idea yet from this article.

"If once again you don't care of all this, we'll continue the protest via Press, Shouts, Contact Forms, and pretty much everything we find to make you finally listen to us. If you ban me, another one will take my place and if you ban him, well pretty much the same over and over."

The last time i said something like that it was a huge mistake on my part :/

"For every game, one of the most important aims of the administration team is to stay close to the players, and keep their sympathy. Running a game is a thing that you do with and for the players."

truth.

Overall, the article was fairly nice and it said a lot of good stuff. Voted in all the countries they published in.

As always, the hawttest paper in the eUS...
