18th Philippines Congress Updates

18th Philippines Congress:

Dear Congressman,

Congratulations on winning the July 25th Congressional elections in your district! It is truly an honor to serve this great country of ours in the national legislature, as not all people are up for the tedious tasks that come along with this distinction. By showing the initiative and the courage to go out and campaign in public, you have successfully started your career in eRepublic politics. Winning an election, of course, is easy...now comes the hard part. 😛

But enough about something that you already know, for those of you who do not know me, I am Myung Kei, current Speaker of the ePhilippines Congress. And throughout my term I shall be posting newsletters like this to help keep you informed about events in the ePhilippines Congress, as well as remind you to get out there, debate, compromise, and (of course) vote!

If you have not heard of me, that is perfectly all right. This beginning newsletter of course, is mainly for the large majority of our congressman who have yet to sign up this term on our national forums. Speaker elections took place on the national forum, debates on laws, alliances, treaties, and other various topics take place on the national forums. It is critical for members of the ePhilippines congress to sign up on the forms:

^ The national forums.

One you are registered and logged on, simply scroll down the page and click on section named The Philippines Congress, click on Congress Sign-ins, post on the topic there, and "shabang!", you can now officially see everything on the Congress forum.

So, why is it important to sign up on the Congress Forums?

Recently, we have had a smidge of congressional votes:

Okay, we have had quite a few law proposals. And as you can see, not that many people's law proposals passed. Some of these were for lulz, others were serious proposals...however most, if not all of these proposals, were made by people who were not signed up on the Congress Forums.

Lulz proposals are alright, in fact, I proposed a few of them myself (like printing 0.00 PHP for 0 gold....genius), but having them bounce around all over the place is hard to coordinate, and we might need your proposals in a crisis situation. Usually lulz proposals are used up at the end of a congressional session, because during the start of a term actual proposals might be needed.

Some of these other proposals were made by people who wanted to genuinely change taxes, but without any debate on the forums, people who are already signed up and registered there will just vote no, and more often than not they usually win. So if you do want to make a difference, let us know on the forums, your haggles with in-game votes will be alot easier.

Also, there are these topics at the forefront:

One Alliance

There is currently a debate going on about whether to join the ONE alliance or not, this can be found in the Congressional forums, it is important for us to gather as much consensus on this issue as possible. Please do not be shy to read up on what others have posted and argued, or to post something yourself. Once you have seen all the arguments and/or posted, beeline down to the Voting Hall and vote on the proposal!

You can find all of this on the forum:

Immigration

Immigration is a major topic for any congress session, and in the ePhilippines a special group helps congresspeople over accepting prospecting citizens into our new country. There are some people barred from entering, and there are other people who might need a background check, still, genuine people need to be informed that their applications are being heard. You can find all the relevant information about citizenship on the forums:

Lulz Proposals

At the end of the legislative session, say, the 23rd-25th, as the Speaker of Congress I plan to have a topic open for all people to post their respective experience points proposals for the Congress to vote down. So don't worry! You will get your experience in via voting, it just might take a while of waiting down the line and making sure no calamities happen between now and the end of Congress.

Hopefully this answered some of your questions of "why are my proposals being voted down", "where is all the Congressional Activity?", and "how was Mr. Monopoly elected Speaker of the Congress?".

I encourage all of our bright new faces in congress to sign up on the forums and for you to take part in our legislative process.

Thanks!

Myung Kei
