October 2011 Congressional Election
[16 Shells] Election Day Tracker
Monitoring the votes in real time!

Last week, I signed up with the American Military Party as a blocker, as usual. A few days ago I was assigned to South Carolina, moved there and got that set up, and didn't give it another thought till early this morning. Blocking is an easy way to contribute to the security of our Congressional elections, and I do it almost every month.

This morning I was surfing the news, came across Gnilraps' article in which he's running some sort of fancy program that displays voting results in real time. How cool is that?!

Scrolling down to my assigned State, I saw the lineup of candidates:
Dusty Haynes, USWP... a relatively new player, born just this summer.
An iNCi candidate.
Emerick.
And me.

It occurred to me that I might very well be the best suited for the job.

I'm not going to launch into a can of worms about why I wouldn't favor the iNCi candidate or Emerick for Congress. If you know me, you know.
This Dusty Haynes fella has a very good campaign article out... I just think my own experience in the game and in Congress will serve our country better.

Damn-- if Dusty wasn't so new, and if this weren't such a critical time for our government, I'd support him... he really sounds like he's got his heart in the right place.
But not this month, not now.

This month we need a strong and experienced Congress, to break the endless cycle of clique power and partisan politics which has divided our country against itself for too long.
This month we need action, not broken promises and business as usual.

I've been playing eRep for over two and a half years.
I've been elected to Congress all four times I ran, and successfully managed election campaigns for a dozen or so Congressmen.
I've been an active soldier, at times holding jobs of great responsibility and trust.
I've been active in the media, most recently running the Challenge Coins program which honored hundreds of players for their excellence and distributed thousands of tanks to US battlefields.
I could be described as a high profile player-- allies consider me to be respected and honorable, opponents point to my tin foil hat and call me a nut... either way, I speak my mind and play it straight right down the line.

This month, America needs a Congress full of experienced straight shooters, to bring about what amount of change as can be brought through that Legislative body, or we're in for another month of "same crap, different month" and you know it's just getting worse.

So, with all due respect to the AMP and the election process, I hereby make the late announcement of my serious candidacy for Congress.

This month, America needs Custer in Congress.
Walk, drive, fly, or hijack a bus to South Carolina, and elect Custer to Congress. Again.

Update - 1500 hours

Dusty has published a concession article.
My own comment there is relevant to this campaign. Please read them both.
