Mates!

Day 762, 16:31 Published in Australia Australia by Rodimus

Born on day 504 of the new world Melchizedek Smith spent his early months silently observing the manner in which others play the game, coming to terms with various mechanics of the eWorld, and learning numerous invaluable skills which over time would prove invaluable.

As a new player looking to eRepublik as the sort of game he could quite possibly become seriously involved in, Melchizedek Smith began to consider what would have kept him going without that immediate drive within himself. Looking over the numbers the reality of eAustralia’s population became alarmingly clear. In his own words:

Far too many of our citizens are aborted or stillborn, and quite often without the necessary parenting and direction our children are barely making it into their teens... It appears that there are a few good willed individuals who are working hard to save our kids from starvation or a life on the streets, but unfortunately many are still slipping through the cracks.

Wanting to aid the good work already being done Melchizedek Smith created ‘The Smith Family’, a privately funded organisation designed to ensure that new citizens gain the right leadership, direction and provisions they require for a successful eLife. Over the months that would follow ‘The Smith Family’ would be involved in contacting newborns on the day of their arrival, and ensuring that they are fed and educated to such a point that they can get on their feet. 'The Smith Family' would also serve as an aid to anyone in need.

This however was not enough for Melchizedek Smith. He had already acknowledged one of the concerns that eAustralia faced and had taken measures to combat that, however could see that this would not be enough. It was for this reason that Melchizedek Smith decided to run for the eAustralian Senate in Queenslan😛

As I’ve heard many say it is time for some new blood in the ranks, but only you can make that happen and with your support eAustralia we can continue to encourage that new blood to flourish.

His campaign would not only prove successful but would begin a rewarding political career. Over the next few months Melchizedek Smith would represent the Australian Independents in the Senate for three consecutive terms the last two in which he would serve as Senate Speaker. During this same time he took on the role of Party President of the Australian Independents in an attempt to save the group from becoming a party, but instead remain what it was principally built for, "a platform upon which the minority can rise and be seen".

Within days of his election to Party President, Melchizedek Smith set about "keeping the bastards honest" by establishing the Senate Review. The Senate Review would prove a strong maintenance of accountability within the eAustralian government, however it was becoming increasingly clear that the youth of the nation were being lost in the looming darkness that is the Senate. With this in mind, Senate School was created, granting opportunity to eAustralians young and old to come to terms with the political system and to give a keener insight into the inner workings of our great nation.

Having achieved all he could in the Senate and within his Party, Melchizedek Smith set his sights higher. In September this year Melchizedek Smith would become the only Independent Prime Minister that eAustralia has had. During his term Melchizedek Smith was incredibly hands on, opting where possible to take on whatever tasks were required. Much negotiation took place with eIndonesia during this time and eAustralia, by the end of his term, found themselves in a strong position to set about reclaiming the last of their occupied regions.

Unfortunately, not long after his term had ended, real life would provide a large stumblimg block for Melchizedek Smith and with many changes taking place both in his real life and within the New World, Melchizedek Smith would find it difficult to carry on.

Less than two hundred days after his humble beginnings in the New World, Melchizedek Smith's account was filed for deletion.

So why tell you all this?

Though Melchizedek Smith may be dying his spark will never fade.

Today the spark of Melchizedek Smith survives in me, Rodimus.

Over the last two months I have been silently watching and waiting. I have observed as our nation has risen to great new heights, and depressingly dark lows. Like a father watching his children rebel, I have endured the anguish of seeing my children suffer.

But that was yesterday. Today we must stand united. eAustralia please understand, i have felt that pain. I know your sufferings. It was for this that I once bled. Though we may have had our failings, our acknowledgement of this fact means that we are ready to move forward. Every eAustralian knows and understands what we desire and what is needed. eAustralia, I am not your enemy, I am your mate. It is time to stand up and be counted. Let us unite against a common foe.

eAustralians, My children, My Mates! Let's show this New World what we're made of!
