THE MANDATE I SEEK

On October 5th, I will be seeking your support to build an eCanada of vision, passion, and purpose.

STATE OF THE CAMPAIGN

Opening Remarks

I want to outline my plan for dealing with the citizenship requests coming out of the eUS. Some fear it is a PTO, others claim it is the embodiment of Bromance, I really don't know what it is but I do know it is a source of vitriol and trolling and it has to stop.

Let me tell you a related story about eIndia...

In 2012, the MU United Aggression attempted to relocate to eIndia. I was part of the MU that attempted this.

We were based in eUS but the eUS government was drifting further and further away from pro-EDEN and it was creating problems with our pro-EDEN MU as we were actively trying to support EDEN activities.

The situation came to a head and we set a goal to relocate the MU to an english speaking country that was EDEN friendly and willing to take in 20 to 30 heavy hitters who are active in game and were interested in getting involved in politics as well. This was not a political take-over. It may have felt like one to eIndians, but it wasn't intended.

Our MU Commander, CFovetS, negotiated terms with the eIndia elites and eIndia congress supported UAgg's relocation to eIndia. It was a difficult decision for them, they were split, but in the end they approved of our arrival with conditions. The two central conditions were that our members could not run for political office for two months AND we had to make demonstrative efforts to integrate with the eIndia community.

Despite great intentions on the part of UAgg and eIndia, this was a massive failure.

UAgg did not run for political office for the two month period, so that was fine, everything else blew up though.

The first issue popped up when after two months, eIndia officials claimed that UAgg did not demonstrate a genuine effort to integrate. We disagreed, heck I disagreed strongly. I felt like I did, made friends, ran raffles, wrote articles, read wiki about RL India, I was all-in. Opponents claimed that we needed to spend more time integrating before we could run for office. I, and others, disagreed and we got involved anyways. Looking back, it was unreasonable to try and define "integrate" and it is unreasonable to hold a newcomer to that standard and it is unreasonable to expect a newcomer to understand the standard. It was not a yardstick that could be measured up to, akin to how blue is the sky? There should not have been any sort of "integration" clause at all. It isn't fair to either side of the equation.

The second issue popped up when eIndia left EDEN shortly after UAgg relocated there. Being in EDEN was a key criteria for UAgg locating there. It was also a key criteria why the politics were going to be interesting and aligned with us as we had the same allies and could help out. When eIndia left EDEN during UAgg's two month trial period we took offence to it, it took us out at the knees. UAgg did not make this a condition of us relocating there, we didn't think it would be an issue, also it would be unreasonable to expect a country to do that for an incoming MU, but at the same time it was unreasonable for a host country not to be transparent about how close they were to leaving an Alliance, particularly when this is a key reason for moving to that country.

The third issue popped up when UAgg members started getting political traction in the parties they got involved in. Other parties and political cabals at large did not approve of this and actively worked against the parties where UAgg members were getting traction, ensuring that this traction was nipped in the bud. Party switching on election days, crappy congress ballot priorities, you name it, UAgg tasted it.

At this point, things disintegrated to the point where UAgg pulled up stakes and relocated to eTurkey, where they exist today. It was an opportunity missed on both sides.

A post script here, in periods of boredom, I return to eIndia to troll their media. A scar that I will always wear. It could have been so different.

On why I am sharing this...

The mistakes made by UAgg and myself do not have to be in vain. The rash of eUS citizenship applications represent a potential opportunity, they could be a threat too, but if there is no ill will intended, why miss out on the opportunity?

If eUS truly wants to locate to eCanada for the tax haven, and it isn't a PTO, then let's deal with that squarely and learn from my eIndian experience so that we don't repeat mistakes. eCan clearly made mistakes the past 25 days on this but I think we can fix the situation, assuming of course is deserves fixing.

First, if it isn't a PTO, then there should be absolutely no reason why the eUS e😜ats wouldn't refrain from running for elected positions. Period. There shouldn't be an issue with people staying off the congress, PP and CP ballot. If there are people with political aspirations, then that needs to be discussed up front. If there are political aspirations then there will be a natural association with a PTO and this could compromise a completely harmless project on the part of eUS expats to work in a tax haven environment. Joining a country and running for CP a week later smells like PTO. Becoming PP of a party smells like PTO. Expediting citizenship approvals in private for groups in your demographic smells like a PTO. Trolling someone because they say you smell like a PTO when you are giving off a distinct smell of PTO smells like a PTO. Just because it smells like a PTO, doesn't mean it is a PTO. Maybe DMV was just doing it wrong. If its not a PTO, don't send mixed signals and stay out of elected office. Don't bother with an "integration" clause because that is a trollfest just waiting to happen. If its not a PTO, its not a PTO, stay out of office.

Second, if eCanada truly wants to rekindle the Bromance, this is a great opportunity to welcome our friends from the South to work in eCanada. Cripes, they'll pay their work tax here and we could use the money!!! We should not frown upon a well intended eUS citizen wanting to couch surf here in eCan and enjoy the tax haven. Be a bro and collect their work taxes.

Third, the eUS expats need to know that eCan is very fickle about its tax policies. We change our minds a lot. Our tax haven may be gone in 48 hours but you will be stuck with your eCan citizenship. This is a variable that we can't control, you must accept this risk if you accept eCan citizenship.

Fourth, the eUS expats need to know that eCan is going though a decision gate on their alliance. We are trial members of CoT, but we entered CoT in a less collaborative, less patient, and less transparent way than the precedent established when we entered Asgard. The challenge for eCanada is to achieve that level of transparency and patience and collaboration during the trial period, or it could fail. Meddling in the affairs could compromise it and that would leave eUS and eCan in different alliance. Acknowledge what is at stake. eCan has other options for alliances; no alliance (neutral) and TWO/ACT are definitely two options. It may pain eUS expats to hear it, but it's legit and its how eCan works.

Fifth, and finally, both sides should commit to a quiet enjoyment clause, a live and let live clause. We can co-exist in eCanada if we respect each other's interests. We will have differences, and we can respect them, provided we both understand and respect the first four points. eCan does not want to be politically taken over, eCan wants to help out its bros, eUS-expats need to understand that the tax haven and alliance decisions are not written in stone and may change. If we proceed on that basis, with eyes wide open, aware of the risks and desires of both sides, this will work.

If this is a PTO, this will fail quickly and in epic proportions.

If this is not a PTO, then this approach will help things progress smoothly.

I did not follow the approach I have laid out here during the eIndia project. I was simply ignorant then. I will likely be trolled by eIndians for using this example and I deserve it, that is the price I have to pay for my actions. This is not a price that eCanadians and eUS Expats have to pay. Learn from my mistakes.

On moving forward with a eUS Ex-Pat Agreement...

I would like to conduct some sort of town hall meeting or national poll to get grass roots support for an eUS Ex-Pat Agreement with these five items in it. If it gets grass roots support, it would be presented to congress for ratification and then eUS citizens would be asked to swear it on their citizenship applications.

To the extent there are breaches of the agreement, immigration gates get shut down.

On rekindling the Bromance...

I don't believe that the Bromance is alive, I don't believe it can be restored to what it once was, but I do believe eCan and eUS can work together better than they have in the recent past.

One day, I want Michigan to belong to eCanada. Hockeytown (and its grain) should belong to eCanada. There will come a time when eUS has it's regions back, and eCan will play a role in that, from within or outside of CoT, and eCan's chances of region renting or swapping with eUS will be affected by how we handle this citizenship and migration issue today.

Denouement...

I really don't know what the intention of eUS citizens are. I do know that is poses a risk and that the risk has to be managed. I also know that it presents and opportunity and eCan sure could use some opportunities. When opportunity knocks, will you open the door and yell out the window?

Who's your daddy?
