Day 2,045, 15:00 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Huey George
Introduction

An MPP loaded 'final this Congressional term' "A view from Parliament" this time with updates on 7 MPP law proposals and one Natural Enemy law proposal. There is also one "other" vote , the peace terms with Ireland and details of one citizenship request I granted. I'll also update on the plans to handover the role of the Speaker of the House to a newly elected member of Congress(Parliament).

Law proposals

Completed MPP law proposal are;

MPP
President of United Kingdom proposed a mutual protection pact with Iran

I voted YES. As the Government of Iran were keen and were willing to pay half of our MPP pact costs. I also feel they'd prove to be valuable allies.

The vote ended;
28 YES votes to 1 NO vote in the UK
32 YES vote to 2 NO votes in Iran

MPP
President of Poland proposed a mutual protection pact with United Kingdom

The vote ended;
28 YES votes to 0 NO votes in the UK
34 YES vote to 4 NO votes in Greece

Natural Enemy

Belgium has been proposed as Natural Enemy.

I voted YES. Our friends in Belgium needed to be wiped to avoid having a Congress to resist a hostile take over so I believed the eUK and our citizenship could help in this matter.

The vote ended;
28 YES votes to 1 NO votes

MPP
President of Slovenia proposed a mutual protection pact with United Kingdom

I voted YES. Like many of the nations above...Slovenia are fellow TWO members and our countries are great long-standing allies.

The vote ended;
28 YES votes to 1 NO votes in the UK
28 YES vote to 0 NO votes in Slovenia

Other votes

Peace Agreement and Non Aggression Pact with Ireland.

"Do you support peace with Ireland and in principle a pact of Non Aggression?" vote stands;

14 (88😵 Yes
1 (6%😵 No
1 (6😵 I abstain from this vote

43% turnout

I voted "Yes". Peace was required to support our war efforts in the USA and Ireland also showed a great willingness to once again be a "friendly" nation to the eUK.

Citizenship Request

I accepted nathaner http://www.erepublik.com/en/citizen/profile/6400951.

He is a former eUK citizen and it's great he had decided to return.

Speaker of the House

I've enjoyed my time as Speaker of the House it's been an honour however I'm pleased to be handing over duties as I've found managing my role as a member of Congress, Speaker of the House, Party President of the WRP and Commander of the Free British Irreglars a very high workload.

The newly elected members of Congress are currently casting their votes for my replacement. (PM me or comment if you've not received the link to the vote and are a recently elected member of Congress)

The choice is between;

FightAndProduce

Kravenn

CptChazbeard

I wish all candidates the best of luck. I'll update this article with the result of the vote in the next day or so.

UPDATE: Day 2,046 Jun 27 01:51

Speaker of the House June/July '13 Vote Results

Only 31 Members of Congress manage to vote (I really hope I gave everyone a chance) however I think the result is clear enough to let the new Speaker start the Congressional PMs and let the new Congress begin discussions in earnest

FightAndProduce 13% (4 votes)
CptChazbeard 26% (8 votes)
Kraveen 52% (16 votes)
I abstain from this vote 9% (3 votes)

Congratulations to Kraveen and commiserations to FightAndProduce and CptChazbeard

Editors note a typo which stated "Only 32 Members of Congress manage to vote" has been corrected.

Closing thoughts

I'd like to end by thanking all my constituents for once again for allowing me this term in Congress, as always it was an honour and I hope I represented you satisfactorily.

My congratulations to all newly elected members of Congress, especially my fellow Workers' Rights Party members Habeeb Baig and FightAndProduce and my comrades in the PCP Sir Botham and JiminyChristmas. Two experience members of Congress and two first-timers a great mix and I'm sure all four will make a positive impact to the eUK in Congress.
