[WRP] - A view from Parliament - Issue 26

Day 2,034, 05:34 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Huey George
Introduction

This "A view from Parliament" will bring you updates on four law proposals and one "other" vote , the peace terms with Germany.

Law proposals

Completed law proposal are;

Natural Enemy
Germany has been proposed as Natural Enemy.

I voted NO. It was a counter proposal as a result of a rogue "NE" proposal from one of the Members of the German Congress. Ultimately the German law proposal was voted down so our UK law proposal wasn't required hence my vote.

The vote ended;
8 YES votes to 21 NO votes

MPP
President of Lithuania proposed a mutual protection pact with United Kingdom

I voted YES. A fellow member of TWO, We went to war against Germany and Denmark to help our Lithuanian brothers. A staunch and loyal citizenship willing to help the UK when required. I could think of no reasons not to continue of mutual pact of protection with them.

The vote ended;
28 YES votes to 2 NO vote in the UK
36 YES vote to 0 NO votes in Lithuania

MPP
President of United Kingdom proposed a mutual protection pact with Thailand

I voted YES. Like Lithuania Thailand are a fellow TWO member. While they have a small base of citizens, Thailand hope to play a strategic part in TWO offensive against the USA. This MPP is required for us to support both Thailand and TWO. Outside of the offensive against the USA, Thailand should prove a useful ally to the UK.

The vote ended;
29 YES votes to 0 NO votes in the UK
30 YES vote to 0 NO votes in Thailand

Natural Enemy

USA has been proposed as Natural Enemy.

I voted YES. This was a difficult decision. I have reservations that the UK will not suffer consequences for this action shared by many I consultant with. Ultimately TWO's plan is very good and the UK should not be at threat however my reservations are that on our own the UK isn't very strong or united. If our allies become tied up in conflict and the UK find ourselves in the firing line we could be in a wait for support. However I have great faith in TWO and the Government so I cast my vote in favour of the law proposal.

The vote ended;
29 YES votes to 0 NO votes

Other votes

The Peace Agreement with Germany is to return their regions and have a one month Non Aggression Pact.

The question posed to Congress was "Do you agree with the terms above?"

The vote result was;
10 (61😵 Yes (In agreement with the deal)
5 (31😵 No, I'd like other terms of peace to be negotiated
0 (0😵 No, I believe the war with Germany should continue
1 (6😵 I abstain from this vote

I voted "Yes". I thought the simple terms were fair enough. We went to war to support Lithuania and we achieved this. However I don't believe the Government communicated this deal to the citizenship of the eUK well and I don't believe we needed to support Danish resistance wars to hurry the handover of Danish territories to Germany. I don't believe members of Congress were not consulted regarding this phase of the peace deal either although I supose it's how you interpret the word "give". In hindsight we probably should have focused on our allies battles rather than ordering our "confused" citizenship to fight against UK. Joint German and Danish fighters should have been enough to reclaim the territories... I hope this doesn't come across too harshly as it's only a minor criticism as I reiterate what I said above that I have great faith in the Government however we need to make sure to "lead" and "listen" to the people not "order" them as their elected servants in Government and Congress.

Closing thoughts

We lost three members of Congress this week as they handed in their resignations. It's a great shame to lose Sir Stupid Genius, Boer Charel and Mr Extra and I wish them all the best for the future and respect their decisions. We'll be weaker without them.
