[WRP] - A view from Parliament - Issue 18

Day 1,954, 13:22 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Huey George

Introduction and thanks

Over 24 hours ago I once again had the distinct pleasure of being elected as a member of Congress(Parliament). Thank you to all who supported and voted for New Era supported by my own Workers' Rights Party in the Congress(Parliament) elections.

New Era are a fantastic party and showed great generosity placing me first and my fellow Workers' Rights Party member, FightAndProduce 9th on their Congress running list. They have progressive and inclusive policies and have been of great benefit for the eUK.

Thanks to all the fine members of

Congratulations to all the newly elected New Era members of Congress(Parliament) as well as all the other newly elected members of Congress(Parliament). I look forward to working with you all.

My plans for my time in Parliament...

Now that I am once again one of your members of Congress(Parliament). I will again attempt to consult with you as much as possible, provide you with valuable information and insight and be accountable for my decisions. To do this once again the eUK news feed will be again occupied by my "A view from Parliament" series to keep you up to date with my actions as a Congress(Parliament) member and invite your thoughts.

Law proposals

Completed law proposal are;

During my first few hours into the role, there was a last chance to exercise my voting rights on a few law proposals largely already decided,

Do you want the current president of United Kingdom to end this office?

I voted NO. This was because Blue And Evil was voted in by the electorate and his action hadn't warranted impeachment.

The vote ended;
9 YES votes to 31 NO votes

President of United Kingdom proposed a mutual protection pact with Serbia

I voted YES. This was because Serbia are a fellow “TWO” member, staunch and loyal ally. A continuation of the MPP makes absolute sense and will aid the general population of both countries with extra fighters for their conflicts.

The vote ended;
32 YES votes to 7 NO votes in the UK
39 YES votes to 2 NO votes in Serbia

President of Thailand proposed a mutual protection pact with United Kingdom

I voted YES. This was because Thailand like Serbia are a new fellow “TWO” member and will no doubt prove a staunch and loyal ally. Therefore this MPP makes absolute sense and will aid the general population of both countries with extra fighters for their conflicts.

The vote ended;
36 YES votes to 6 NO votes in the UK
29 YES votes to 0 NO votes in Thailand

One law proposal just about to close voting;

President of Slovenia proposed a mutual protection pact with United Kingdom

I voted YES. This was because Slovenia like Serbia and Thailand are a fellow “TWO” member. They've proven to be a very good ally to have. A continuation of the MPP makes absolute sense and will aid the general population of both countries with extra fighters for their conflicts.

The current vote stands (as of 13:13 Day 1,954 of the new world);
38 YES votes to 1 NO votes in the UK
37 YES votes to 0 NO votes in Slovenia

Closing thoughts

To hear the people, you must first listen to the people. Sounds simple however I really plan to take this to heart to be as a great representative for my constituents as I can. I think in power, it can be easy to think you are good at this as you've attracted votes however it's always good to make time to stop and listen to the people.
