Meet the Media Team for the Term!
Jaden A., SoM
Hello, eUSA, from your new Media team! I’d like to take a second to introduce the team this term.
First, we’ve got SColbert back, writing his infamous Press Briefings once again.
Next, we’ve got a newcomer to eRepublik who has taken to the media scene, James Schubert, running an exciting new writing contest that kicks off tonight, at day change!
Next, we’ve got another newcomer just beginning to experiment with writing for us (but doing a great job, so far), Joey3790! He is continuing a series advertising various government programs, for now, and may be writing more articles as he gets his footing.
Next, we’ve got Alexander_Auctoritas, or A^2, is providing his regular, informative, and interesting war reports to keep us updated on the military module.
Next, we’ve got a guest writer each week from the Cabinet to explain his/her role in the Executive. Unfortunately, this week, this article fell through, but we will have an article from Aramec on the Secretary of State position next week!
Finally, we’ve got me, Jaden A., your Secretary of the Media this term, writing Congress reports, Election reports, or whatever else is necessary that week.
I’m excited for a great term! Many thanks to TDK for stepping up (while I was getting hammered in New Orleans) and writing a WHPR on the 7th and to our former SoM and new CoS, Orikfricai, for organizing the weird transition in my semi-absence.
Press Briefings
SColbert, Press Secretary
1/6/16
Today the cabinet mainly focused on:
-Being boring as ****
-Pretty much just making sure everyone had what is necessary to do their job
-Aramec posted a Wiz Khalifa song
-Wiz was wearing Timbs, which as a white guy from NY I immediately identified with
-I guess posting Wiz was alright, I just didn't realize it was still 2011
-It's all about J Biebs now
-Continuing to not mention the old Vice President because **** that guy
1/7/16
Today the cabinet mainly focused on:
-President Azazel being a noob with buttons
-Orik doing his job
-Everyone agreeing that a certain past CP should suck a ****
-It's totally Tenshibo
-It's not really Tenshibo, but I bet he would like it
-This **** is bananas
-B-A-N-A-N-A-S
-***** don't kill my vibe
1/8/16
Today the cabinet mainly focused on:
-I'm kinda drunk
-Like not kinda, but like really drunk
-I already realize that I'm probably going to regret posting the story above tomorrow morning
-Orik's new name is Orka
-WHPR formatting shit was done
-DoD orders were made
-DoCA stuff was all sorted out
-Pfeiffer and Oblige continued their courtship
-Foreign affairs **** was discussed
-We all got our awards, so **** you people that don't have awards
-Tenshibo still didn't post in the PDB, so today kinda sucked

American University
Joey3790, dSoM
When somebody first joins eRep, they find themselves surrounded by a lot of shiny buttons to push. It can be overwhelming when you have no clue what those buttons do. This is exactly why the wonderful people in the DoCA have created American University.
Just like any other university, American University strives to teach students the basics, so that they can successfully navigate through all of those buttons and become a superstar. Each student receives a mentor who will guide them along their journey. Like with any other educational system, there will be tasks and assignments, but there are also rewards for completing these. Yes, students are rewarded with food, weapons, and gold for the progress they make. No matter what it takes, we all want our students to succeed.
Everyone has an eDestiny. Are you the country’s next great writer? Could you be a military genius? Or would you like to try your hand in the political arena? At American University you can learn to master all of these aspects of eRep, along with discover your place in the larger community of the eUSA. Why not give it try today and find out your eDestiny?

AU is always looking for mentors. If you have what it takes to be a mentor please click here: I have what it takes!

War Report
Alexander_Auctoritas, Foreign Consultant
Let's take a look at what our allies are up to in today's edition of:
As Erepublik Turns
There is plenty of action going on in the eWorld, but I usually keep it to allies with which we share an MPP.
The eUSA continues her campaign against eIndonesia. After declaring an NE four days ago, the US opened with a win in Java. The US is rolling into Sumatra. Looks like there will not be a great deal of resistance here, but we'll monitor the situation for any surprises.
France has been working on the United Kingdom for a couple of days and started the campaign off with four wins. Looks like the UK may win in London; so, I'm not sure how this will go long-term. France and the UK have danced a lot in the last year. Let's see how their dances go this year.
Finland continues to have fun in Estonia. winning MPP battles at will. I thought this might be a training war; so, I asked someone in Finland what the deal was. He said that it's just Latvia and Finland having fun doing whatever they want. I'm guessing that, as long as Estonia gets to fight and win RWs, they are fine with the situation. I wonder how many battles this war can garner. Let's see.
At the same token, Latvia is having a great time in South America with Venezuela. This never-ending war began months ago and is the same situation you see in the Baltic region. I'm not sure if Venezuela enjoys this arrangement, but i enjoy seeing countries sustain good long wars without them going horribly wrong.
Speaking of going horribly wrong, how did Brazil lose their latest MPP battle with Venezuela? I can only hope it was agreed upon. We'll see what happens.
I’m not sure why Pakistan attacked Bulgaria, but Bulgaria succeeded and has now won two more. They will pretty much do whatever they want. Perhaps Pakistan just wanted to change which region they have open, which they can do in a RW.
Speaking of doing whatever you want, Russia is still going at South Korea. SK is only down to five regions, so I'm not sure if this is an arranged war or not. I'll ask someone for our next edition, so we know what is going on. Perhaps Russia and the RoC are sharing South Korea regions.
Until next time, keep it classy, and keep shakin that A**, eMurica!
Congress Report
Jaden A., SoM
Speaker of the House Election
Since my last report, Congress has elected its Speaker of the House! Congratulations to Resoula for winning the plurality of the votes at 50%. The vote count was:
Resoula - 21
AlexJ1890 - 2
Abstain - 3
Speaker of the House Controversy and Constitutional Questions
Since the election, there has been some controversy over Resoula and his team. Some have complained that the team was too quick to lock some discussions, that they were still active and should not have been locked. There was some talk about impeaching Resoula, but no proposals were made to do so. In the past couple days, these complaints appear to have halted, and some of the former critics have said that the team has stopped unnecessarily locking threads.
In this controversy, however, there was a question raised about what will happen if a SoH is impeached. Currently, if impeached, a new election will be held to determine the new speaker, but there will be no speaker for the interim. Donny Matrix has suggested in discussion, after a couple of small changes to wording to avoid any loopholes or problems, that an interim speaker be implemented while this election takes place. The interim speaker would be the most senior Congressman/woman who is not the newly impeached Speaker, his/her Deputy Speaker, his/her Whip, President of the eUS, or Secretary of Defense. This discussion is still active; so, if you would like to show your support for it or opposition to it, you can voice your concerns here.
Budget
Congress has set the budget for the Executive for the term.
The budget discussion first centered around the DoCA, but a quick consensus was made that the budget for the DoCA be lowered by the amount set aside for the former program, Fantasy MU, which did not get off the ground when it became an official government program last term. Since the program was not actually active, the budget was lowered to reflect that.
There was a great deal of discussion after that was settled on whether or not USAF should receive the same amount of funding or if it should exist as a publicly-funded program at all. Ultimately, no adjustment was made to the funding of the program, however.
The final budget passed was:
Various Dictatorship Discussions in One
Custer presented 4 ideas for changing how the defensive dictatorship works in one thread. After some discussion, he conceded the first three and argued for the fourth, implementing a Presidential veto on Congressional action. Custer confirmed after some more discussion on this that he did not intend to move the idea to proposal, and the thread was locked.
Got an idea for a WHPR article? Want to join the team? Message Jaden A. to apply! We need writers! Be sure to participate in our writing contest!
Thanks for reading!
Sincerely,
Your Media Team,
Jaden A.,
SColbert,
James Schubert,
Joey3790, and

All images should be fixed.
all broken images are i.prntscr.com linked.
strongly suggest saving images to a stable online image storage (I've always used photobucket without issues) and linking from there.
Are some of your images still broken? Mine are all working now in both the WHPR account and my own.
that's a cache thing. your PC/Mac knows the images from when you accessed them, and displays them for you.
Yeah, I've taken to using postimg. Sad that Plato decided to kill imgur.
Okay, now it really should be fixed. Evry says there are no more broken images on that end.
it's a beautiful thing.
now, when you get fed up with Photobucket's incessant video ads freezing the page, try Ad Block Plus.. which is pretty handy almost everywhere.. till the next generation of ad blocker blockers comes around.

Great job Jaden, good read.
Everyone be sure to write some good articles because for the next two weeks anyone could be winner in the January Media-A-Thon Contest if you place in top five and win some gold.
James Schubert, dSoM
Thanks, WHPR. It means a lot to have the bill I sponsored mentioned in your article. Unfortunately, it appears that the architects on both sides of our current political divide have their own reasons for attempting to keep a simple code clarification from even getting past the proposal stage. Regardless of what happens, I am glad to have brought the situation to light and look forward to my shot at 5 gold via an upcoming article about a broken Congress that cares more for lobbing grenades across the aisle than fixing a rather benign, but poorly written, law.
