** What Am I Fighting For? **

Day 618, 04:12 Published in USA USA by Blue Holt

I flew out to eCalifornia yesterday.

On a car ride from eLAX airport to my hometown, just outside of eL.A., I watched in horror as I rolled by mounds of debris and wreckage on an almost indistinguishable freeway.

I came up to the major intersections by my house to find that many of my family and friends were relocated into temporary eIndonesian encampments in the parking lot of the local grocery store; they seemed to be in great condition. PEACE was surprisingly humane in providing the local residents with comfortable shelter and cooked food until reconstruction of the suburbs took place.

My parents were, of course, not very happy with having to deal with these new, foreign conquerors… but what more could they have done?

What more could I have done?

As I continued to drive through my hometown the next morning, heading in the direction of City Hall, I saw something up the courtyard flag pole that made me cringe with humiliation and repulsion…

Something I’ll never forget…

It dawned on me that the war was starting to get entirely out of hand. Everything I had been fighting for so hard was ripped out of my clutches in mere days…

Sure, everyone I knew and loved continued to live their eLives safely. Yet, I could not help but ask the same question that many uneducated eAmerican dissenters have been posting in their tabloids lately…

“What the heck am I fighting for?” I muttered underneath my breath.

That night, I didn’t sleep a wink.
Thoughts within my head were racing back and forth, with so many questions and doubts.
As a soldier, we were trained and taught to never give in to surrender, no matter the costs.
But as an eAmerican civilian, beneath my literal coat-of-arms…

My personal morale had never been lower.

Before I left, I talked to some of my friends and family out in eCali. Most of them gave me the same advice they had been giving me for weeks:

“We didn’t ask for this!”
“I didn’t want to be taken over.”
“All because a few knuckleheads in the eWhite House made some bad calls in judgment!”
“But who can change the past? We can change our future.”
“Damn PEACEniks!”
“Steven! Put the Molotov down!”
“Get outta here, kid. If you know what’s best for ya, get outta the Army and shuffle over to Spain.”
“Screw that! Nick picked up a job at an Indo factory a few days ago. He’s getting paid BANK, bro!”
“Okay! Okay! Calm down!”
“Listen to this! Richardson’s on the radio!”
“Mom? Dad?”
“i r teh 1337, n00b!”
“Someone flag down a guard! My dog is missing!”
“Sssshhhh.. Quiet! We’re trying to listen to Harrison!”
“I didn’t want to be taken over. Seriously.”
“Listen, son. You have so many options before you. Your mother would want you to leave the country, but you know there is nothing honorable in leaving behind people who need you.”
“Dad, I know… but I just don’t want to watch this land burn to the ground! If I take off to Spain or one of our other allies, I can always come back to fight again another day. Right?”
“SHUT YOUR HOLE, RICHARDSON! YOU TURNED YOUR BACK ON US!”
“HEY! QUIET DOWN!”
“Steven, stop trying to set things on fire.”
“What are you doing over here?!”
“Maybe we should head underground. The government might send in reinforcements if we start a resistance.”
“Son, this decision is entirely up to you. You can leave now and believe that coming back to fight another day will benefit you, but no matter where you run, you cannot escape the same fate twice…”
“I didn’t vote for this guy!”
“GIVE ME MY DOG!”
“I didn’t want to be taken ov…”
“We get it! You didn’t want to be taken over!”

…That was quite the chatty evening.

So, if you’re in the same position as I am, I ask that you try to make your decision soon. There’s no use in mulling it over while we might get trampled on again and again in the coming week(s).

Realize what you’re going to be fighting for in this war. Understand that we’re in for probably the worst… if you want out, then continue the fight within one of our many amazing allied countries. I’ll give you honorable mention if you’ve already made the decision to hunker down and fight the good fight within North American borders, even if all 51 disappear…

But if you must, like I will be doing, ponder about it a little longer…
Break away and give your future a moment’s thought.
Just be fully aware that OUR decision can make or break this country…

And it will ultimately influence the course of history for the entire New World.
