[WGI] An Introduction to Basic and Intermediate article coding
Writer's Guild of Ireland
In this article I am going to teach citizens of eIreland how to code articles with more complex codes then eRepublik provides. You may have wondered how other newspaper writers, normally the older ones, manage to add different fonts images and sized text when there is no buttons on your newspaper for adding them. Here is the explanation. The eRepuplik media module isn't very developed with just the basic, bold and link. Although there are many codes that work, but just simply are not added to the media module.
Basics
Bold
Bold can be used to make certain parts of text bold and stand out.
Italics
Italics can be used to make certain parts of text italics such as quotes or sarcasm.
Underlined
Underlined can be used to make certain parts of text underlined to emphasize a point or mainly for titles.
Size
Different sized writing can be used to emphasize words or for headings.
Mixed together
All the codes do not have to be separate they can be mixed to create headings.
Slightly more complicated codes
Adding a click able text-link
These can be used to link to other articles or external websites. This code is more reliable than the one of the media module.
Adding images
Possibly the best code, this livens up articles and helps to bring across points more easily.
Intermediate Codes
Adding colour
This code is one of the least used and known, it is quite long to type and the range of colours isn't really known. I've used pink, red and green. It sometimes does not work, here is a old article with coloured text.
*NOTE - I made a mistake in the image I wrote Colour instead of Color
Adding anchors
Anchors are used mainly for much longer article to quick link to different sections in an article.
e.g Test Anchor
Test goes here
Important things to note
Why does my article go black when I publish it, but the writing is there when I edit it?
This is because of a unclosed / improper code. Go back and check each one is closed properly.
Why don't codes work over the whole article?
The codes don't like when you break them up like this:
only don one code for a big block of writing. If you keep starting a new line, do a code per line to ensure it works.
Why do my links not work sometimes?
This is because some links are too long. Minify the url with http://minify.me/ or an similar program.
Codes revealed in the next article
In the next article I will release these codes, after I understand them a bit better. After that I will collate the article as a whole and release it as a guide.

Important Links
I have collated the major eIrish Government Organisation links and Newspaper links which should prove useful to the general public if they need to contact a minister or verify is a organisation is official.
Here it is: (You click it to be redirected)

I would like this at the bottom of every Government Article and Citizen Article. Its not a order, but it would be very useful. The code to put it on your article is HERE just copy and paste it into your article!

*NOTE - I made a mistake in the image I wrote Colour instead of Color
HAHAHAHAHHAHA
see! even the code says its "color" not "colour"
XD
Can't wait to see!
@ Navy - The coders of eRepublik were Americans so misspelt it. How unfortunate.
🙂

Awesome article! looking forward to the next one!
Brilliant! Thanks so much!
Yeah! I always wanted to know how they did the pretty gold box. 🙂
That's not the code I was expecting.
thank you Niall
Great article
Simply excellent! Thanks a lot Niall, I was always wondering about a couple of those codes.
I think you should get a section stickied on the forums where you can put all this stuff for future reference.

When saying not sure about the colours, maybe this link helps. Some of them should work at least.
But it seems that the <strong> tag doesn't actually work. If it'd work, the HTML colors mentioned on the post above would work too, among other neat things that one could do if HTML and CSS would work on posts.
@Lonwind, it works sometimes thats why i don't use it as much :/ Its a pain in the a*** i can link you to my paper where i managed to use it properly once.
well written and very informative. I know of at least 5 people who would of loved to have this when they first started publishing!
