[WGC] Canada Prize - Final Four!

Day 512, 18:17 Published in Canada Canada by Writers' Guild of Canada

Well it's been an epic tournament so far, and now the 48 initial competitors have been whittled down to a measly 4. How did we get to this point you ask? Well here's a rundown of the Quarter-Final matches.

Zanalan vs. Alias Vision - Politics in eRepublik
Win: 92.5 - Zanalan
Loss: 88.5 - Alias Vision

The former PM put the pedal to the medal for this round, knocking out media heavyweight Alias Vision. Zanalan's analogous use of that all too familiar high school scene was well received. AV's article was also well articulated and received a good mark. However, in the highest scoring match of the tournie thus far, it just wasn't quite enough to move to the Semis. Congrats to Zanalan!

Banach vs. Vincent Chaotic - Economy/Economics in eRepublik
Loss: 84 - Banach
Win: 90 - Vincent Chaotic

Easily the most talked about match of the tournament: Vincent Chaotic pulls off the unthinkable win against Canada's Media Mogul. Banach's article was great, but VC pulled a no-holds-barred economic history of the country. The judges were blown away, and Vincent Chaotic was handed the keys to the Semis. Congrats!

SensibleVoices vs. William Duncan - Military/Fighting in eRepublik
Loss: 78.5 - SensibleVoices
Win: 80 - William Duncan/The 10th

This one took an age to materialize, but the Canada Prize is +2 great articles for waiting. WD and the 10th collaborated to eek out a slim win against Sensible Voices, one of four WGC members to be knocked out in the Quarters. The question now is whether the 10th will be able to stop Vincent Cinderella from reaching the finals. Congrats to the 10th!

Dade Pendwyn vs. Marcchelala - Media in eRepublik
Win: 92 - Dade Pendwyn
Loss: 85 - Marcchelala

Dade pulled out his second consecutive 90+ article with an artistic flourish. The judges seem to enjoy the unique approach he employed. Marcchelala's article was, as always, fantastic. He offered multiple suggestions on improving the media module in eRepublik. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite enough to punch his ticket to the Semis. Congrats Dade!

Keep a watch out for the Semi-Final article entries. They'll be coming out tomorrow - if you see them make sure you vote them up! The first 3 places receive gold payouts, so we're getting into the money now. Here are the Semi-Final clashes:

Vincent Chaotic vs. William Duncan and the 10th

Everyone who predicted that in a bracket with Banach, Bruck, SensibleVoices, and Joey Phillips that these 2 writers would remain please put up your hand. Nobody? Vincent Cinderella (as I dubbed him 30 seconds ago) has bulldozed every competitor he's come across, including the legendary Banach. It's final - this guy is for real. However, he goes up against the machine of the 10th platoon...is this one hurdle he won't be able to jump?

Zanalan vs. Dade Pendwyn

This side of the bracket proceeded slightly more predictably, but the eliminations of Alias Vision, Kelly Mahoney, and Augustus Baldwin still show that the tournament holds surprises in all corners. Zanalan has had arguably one of the tougher schedules, facing the indomitable AB one round and the incredible AV the next. Will he be able to push past Dade Pendwyn to gain a spot in the finals? Keep your eyes peeled for the articles from this one - it should be epic.
